Strength based DW?

I'm running a Dex based DW now, and it's pretty good. But I like to try to do things the hard way. I keep wondering if there isn't a way to make a Strength based DW effective. I tried searching, but basically every sword/DW build thread mentions strength, so having A hard time learning from Y'alls past experience.

The reason I keep thinking it might work is that DW has 4 skills that add crit or critD, and strength seems to be a good way to enhance this.

Dex and Str both add 2 to Atk.

Dex gives some MATK and CSPD If one wanted a magic swordsman hybrid. Perhaps more importantly, it adds hit.

Strength give a very little ASPD, and crit D.

It would seem to work if you could get your crit rate high enough. You would likely have to do some crit stat, crit up and a couple crit gears to help replace hit. That should work when combined with astute/shadow step and ends of a combo. I don't know how much you normal attacks would be missing though, which would rob you of the DW AMPR advantage. The plus side is you would crit more often and for more damage.

Any thoughts or counterpoints?

1 STR = 1 atk for DW.

 

Yep. ive tried making a pure str dw before
It ended with slightly weaker damage skills and extremely weaker normal attacks, so not rly good imo

 

Dex=2 atk
Str=1atk
Agi=1atk

The tables I was looking at for stat effects must have been outdated! Well that makes it a lot easier to resist the urge..

 

it's not outdated, maybe you only saw the 1h version of stats. since 1h gives +2 atk when you add str or dex

 

So 1h is + 2 attack per Str, but use a blade as secondary and it drops in half?
