What is a flame thread?

Not exactly sure if this is the correct place to put this, but if not then kindly move this thread.

As it has come to our attention that there has been a 'Flame Threads' so I shall reiterated what it is exactly:

A flame thread is a thread that baits attention and has elements of hate towards them. While the hate could be aggressive - Mages suck and should burn in Tartarus (Hatred towards mages) - or passive aggressive - Why was I banned? (Hatred towards moderators) - there is still elements of hate towards a certain type of thing or persons and therefore closes a thread due to the fact argumentation ensues. The argument itself may heat up, or it may not. Either way, avoid flame threads with these simple steps:

1. If there is person or type of people that peeves you off, don't show it in a thread. Heck, just don't show it. Unless it has something to add to a statement. (I think snipes are awesome, full party of them! "I personally can't handle more than 1, proration goes down the drain with that many") Opinion voiced in a constructive mannerism.
2. If you have an issue with a person, keep it personal. (Yeah I know imma hypocrite)
3. Don't attack a person, even if they have done horrible things in the past. Wait until they do and report to a moderator, if they do.
4. If your statement is highly offensive, even if it follows step 1, do not say it. (Yeah, well screw you, Snipes are awesome nonetheless and are best dps, unlike swordies they suck!) Argument is offensive to a certain class and could flame up.

Of course there are better definitions and examples, but this is put to the simplest of terms to make sure that no one else rages or gets triggered from situations that never needed to happen.

td;lr a flame thread is a thread where drama happens. didnt need to really explain it.

 

One friend that can gets u out of trouble, Silence, even if u hate it.

 

that wont help much really. sometimes silence makes drama continue because someone is being silent about things.

 

That's why I love to press report button without having to comment and adding oil into fire.

 

either way, if people want to fight, they should like take it elsewhere.

 

I made this thread as a simple way for people to know what causes flame threads and how to avoid it. May I remind you that we had 2 that were made by the same person today?

It does in fact. No offense but even if it wasn't the intent it was flame baiting dude

 

Then why don't the actual users flame-baiting recieve punishment?! I do not tolerate facing repercussions due to the actions of others. I just want to voice my opinions and suggestions.

 

I find the fact that they close threads and ban for this sort of thing oppressive when its not even the original poster's attention, like I was making a movement against role players and had no hate in it and only wanted to recruit but people attacked my thread and I'm the one punished. Also whats so wrong with a "flame thread"? We can't have any arguements on here? Why?

 

Arguments that get outta hand causes disorder and also counts as an unnecessary way to increase post count.

And mods are really lenient to be honest. I actually managed to get pissed to the point I asked for a self-imposed ban due to it because this forums wasn't in the best of shape. Nowadays, everything is quite fair. I can say @kariin six and get away with it fine because no ones gonna come in and call me Satan for it.

Arguments lead to tension, tension leads to chaos and disorder, and that leads to the fall of the community. I've been a mod for over a year and a half now and I would know this because I witnessed it. The old forums I came from died because of all the "salt" that went on there whenever I wasn't around. It was due to that, people left one by one because of it. People have different levels of sensitivity, humour, and so on, yet a lot of us fail to understand that.

There's a lot more to it than just the reasons stated above, a lot more...

Oh they do trust me. Flame baiters at most seem to have an hour before someone contacts a mod and then the thread gets leg swept by one of them. They may be low in numbers and not the fastest, but boy they do work

 

I don't see why arguements are wrong as long as we are not throwing insults at eachother and just argueing over the topic

 

If I recall you voiced an opinion on RPers that were highly offensive to them. Now, I don't like RPers too much myself but there are ways to solve it. Report, Block, Move Maps.

 

Same reason political debates aren't allowed: Low Blows will happen and it can get HIGHLY offensive some times
