Cap for Phy and Magic Resistant

like topic...is that a cap for physical and magic resisitant?

 

It doesnt have any cap.
But it does slice off every 50% points.
Example:-
If you have 50% magic or physical resistance it will give exactly 50% reduction in damage.
But if you have more like lets say 70% resistance, then it will slice of at 50% point such that it will be counted as 50% reduction and then 20% reduction not as a 70% whole.
50% reduction and then 20% reduction of the resultant is 0.5*0.8 = 0.4 which is 60% reduction. That slicing will happen twice if you get more than 100% making it impossible to achieve 100% reduction with resistance, its still a very good stat nevertheless.

 

So in reality even if you have gear that gets you to like 300% you'd actually be at like 99%?

 

98.4375% is closer to 98, not 99, unfortunately.

Yeah, resists are cool and DEF/MDEF... exist but almost aren't a consideration.

It's easy math... Divide by .50, exponentiate 0.5 by the dividend and multiply that result by the remainder... (as long as you are working in decimals, not percents. If you are working in percents, you have to convert out of percents and then back into percents.)

 

Yeah, it's that exactly. Just easier to put in a calculator by doing 0.5^6 instead of typing a bunch of .5 and *. For the most part it's not relevant to need to shortcut, so your formula is better for most people. (If not all. I don't know how much resist is possible.)

 

I can get 100% resistance not counting the refine so thats 75% reduction there and there, 84% if counting the refine and 87% if counting guard against magic atks.
I try to reach 90% reduction so that when added with 90% of sanctuary it becomes 99% reduction.
When bosses only 1% of their total damage you got nothing to worry about anymore.
