Beginner/early game - Blade(1H+Shield usually) or Bow is easiest
After level 70 - Mage with Int&Vit for stat setup then Impact, Storm, Holy Fist, MP Charge, MP Boost, HP Boost for necessary skills and you can farm decent gear instead of buying gear(not ranker material but can do what you need it to do)

p.s only way to do a cheap good build is to refine, stat and farm the necessary additional an special gear yourself.

A lot of people say that you should start with a mage, but mages get hit by area attacks a lot since they aren't very mobile. I've had some people in the past tell me things like "you need a mage to fight bosses like the Ancient Empress since mages have high MDEF", but this isn't really true, as in my experience it is best to start off as a more agile class like a 1h, archer, or brawler since you can avoid area attacks, and hence consume less revitas, which is nice for early game. Though revitas are relatively cheap to make, they can be consumed too quickly if you take too much damage, and that small price can add up to be a bit of a hinderance. It is mostly up to you to decide (though you probably have already) since class difficulty doesn't matter all that much near end-game.

P.S. Whatever you do, don't start off as a DW; their auto attacks are really slow, but they do make a good end-game class.
