It depends on your gear i guess, plus nerf hammer is gonna hit really hard on hasso.

Full Crit set-hasso(directly gonna get hammered by nerf)(triple thrust advisable)
Ode full set-zantei(indirectly going to get hit due to godspeed being regulated)(meikyo usage highly advised)

Honestly they both have some quirks.

For Settetsu, the boss can miss once in a while and your damage wont be boosted. Unlikely, but still possible.

With Happa, the boss can move out of range before it cycles. Missing the target completely. Also, standing at an elevated position can cause it to miss completely as with impact. Both of which ive experienced while farming Pillar Golem.

While we're on the subject, does anyone here know if settets gets a boost if guarded through heavy arm?

So, i chose zantei since a guildmate of mine said that zantei is for dex, while hasso for str stat. Though i think its a good choice since im always getting aggro during our boss fight.

Both hasso and zantei are good in different situations.
Zantei has more burst damage but needs you to parry an attack while hasso is not that high burst but can be used without a parry, it is an aoe and can never be evaded/miss/graze.

On high difficulty boss or gem runs hasso would be better while on low difficulty and short runs zantei is better.

Full str gives high stability and since hasso doesnt graze it will get benifit from that high stability while full dex is better for zantei to keep up the higher stability in case enemy dodge gets high.

I personally choose zantei over hasso because hasso will be nerfed in the future. And if you practice how to use zantei+madagachi correctly you will be almost invincible in boss battles, IMO.

Now to think of it, i guess ill get hasso then. But i was never a fan long combos. Any combo for hasso? As for zantei, im not using any combo for it. Though im still too far from lvl 100. Ow btw just a question, will the dash be activated if i used hasso. As for zantei, dash do activate whenever i use it.

We will have to see how much exactly it gets nerfed. If the nerf is just upto -20% damage its still quite good as an instantaneous aoe that never gets evade or graze. Also zantei has its own problem of not being able to use properly when there is a tank or party interrupts aoes. Lets hope theres new skill at least which doesnt need parry to do decent damage.

Dash can be activated for any offensive katana skill as long as you are outside of its action range. Hasso needs you to be at 2m range from boss to use so you will dash if you are more than 2m away.
    I use: pulse blade + war cry(save) + impact(cons) + hasso(smite) + pommel(cons) 1mp cost
There are shorter combos or no impact combos but they wont be 1mp

    Pulse blade>zantei(save)>pomel(cons)>warcry(cons)>meikyo(cons)>hasso(smite)>triple thurst(cons)
    2mp+100%crit,150%dmghasso+armor break+nulify dmg once+paralysis effect(boost crit dmg)+no impact
Good combo for direct damage without tumble boss with impact which will interrupt your combo for exmple ifrid who will knockback you if hit by crowd control skill once hp goes below 50%.You also dont hve to worry about mp since katana ampr is high so just atk few time to recover mp also increase proration.

I'm still a long way for impact, this one looks quite appealing,

While we're at this, can someone share a chain combo with hasso, without impact...

I run both since I wasn't sure wich one was better at first. But I've been using more Zantei for the bosses. I'm planning to reset at lv 150 (If I ever reach it) and go for the best dps build available.

Yep i use that similar combo but issen instead of pulse, i use pulse opener on my other combo so i can use it at range then run in for zantei, i use these combos, pulse, warcry save, quickaura swift, impact con, meikyo con, zantei smite, thrust con, 2mp with a full 150% zantei because impact counters pulses proration, if no impact just change it to flashblast con or any other skill con, for hasso dps, i use issen, zantei save, quickaura swift, warcry con, meikyo con, hasso smite, thrust con, 2mp
