Using a bow gun or using a bow

Hi there, I am looking for someone who can explain to me a little about the bow gun, and if I should use a bow instead? I have the fusee with knife shaft for the arrow. I'm having a hard time finding which enemies or quests I should do, to get better bow gun ammo. I am currently lvl 53, on part two of the main quest (just fought the moon king mage guy). I am also wondering what stats I should upgrade if I intend to continue using the bow gun. And lastly, should I ditch bow guns altogether, and go back to my bow?

 

You can use bow or bg in ur sniper. Both are full dex 2nd stat is str/crit. But i prefer bow. It depends on ur playstyle.

U can use stat for bow or bg

Or atk7c151515

 

Bow:
higher stability
Slower charge time for snipe

Bowgun:
Lower stability
-25% crit rate on snipe
Faster charge time for snipe

Theres more differences on each but thats all i know

 

Tbh I would wait out the 150 update before asking the question

just go bowgun.
ur cam equip shields also for better survival
and
if u learn some shield bash($tun) a.k.a breakers many will add u in pt, dont ask why, this happen coz too many katana wannabeee
and just play normally and
when annyvasary event came gets the bg coz its give high aspd.

Its depend on ur build some prefer using crit eq some used bs or boss drop eq, u just n3ed to find witch suite u better

 

bowguns are faster than bows, their skills deal more damage but have a lower chance of inflicting status ailments.
the atk and stability of arrows is halved, but you can also equip all other sub weapons.
some bowguns boost short range damage

the choice depends on your playstyle and what you want to look like

 

Thanks for all the help everyone still trying to figure out all of the games ins and outs. One more quick question though. Can't seem to find out how to get a piercer, so I can add a slot to my bow gun?

 

What's the 150 update? Sorry if I sound stupid. If there's a good forum to find all the basic info please let me know, still confused on a lot of aspects of this game.

 

The 150 update was a maintenance to raise the level cap to level 150, but Asobimo also raised the skill cap for tier 4 combat skills to level 151. So whether to continue on as a bowgun or bow player is currently hinging on what skills comes out when the fourth tier is released.

I didn't know bowguns had a higher aspd than bows. When i tried switching between the two, it was the opposite. Bowguns had a higher hit rate than bows though when I tested the two out. (Have a bg custom statted and a bow needing to be statted)

 

There should be an update that gives each class a lvl 4 skill coming out this month.

 

You can request someone to pierce your bow for a cost (like maybe 150k-400k?) Or buy another bowgun but with a slot in it

If you're lucky in international server they may pierce it for cheap

 

@Ari999 , the bg piercer is pretty cheap, about 200-250k last I checked. but if you want to build your weapon first, you should get it refined before adding the slot, because it's easier for a refinement service to level up the equipment with ns than one with (and therefore cheaper too!)

Tell me about it! That's the same reason why I haven't outfitted my bow yet. >< I'm barely halfway to the minimum amount service charges! Hahaha

 

BG pierce is actually 100kish, just pick the right day to do it

I switched from bow to BG and im loving it. My build is full dex > str. Meikyo snipe combo. Char lvl 130
My equips:
Fusee +B (ganglef) atk7cd4%cd13crit13
Armor (roga) atk7cd13crit13
Phetor npc craft(nurethoth)
Dex tal 3(don yeti)

Combo: (1mp)
Moeba>smoke(save)>para(cons)>warcry(cons)>meikyo(cons)>snipe(smite)>sneak(cons)

With bow around 91% crit 158k-164k dmg vs grylle
With bg around 69% crit 150k-298k damage vs grylle.

Best thing about bg is the guard break reduced chance. Knux tanks will thank you for it.

I did a dex>str combo to compensate for the stability loss on arrows(BG halves the stability of arrows) and also BG's natural lower stability than bows. And another benefit of going dex str meikyo build is you can switch to bow if ever a better bow comes along. You can also ditch gothic(proto) and bexiz xtal anytime since meikyo crit rate already got you covered.

Btw, incase some of you didnt notice, phetor from npc and drop are different. Sure thay have same stats but the atk up(dex) is different. I tested it with 2 phetors. 1 drop 1 npc. The npc gave around 100+ attack. The drop gave less. Around 40 i think.

And just a friendly reminder, there are no right or wrong builds. Make a build enjoy it, experiment, make it better. The best thing about toram is the freedom to build your character the way you like it

 

I had gotten the Party Goggles during that Megiston event to replace my Gothic hat (drop, not smithed), which increases the crt by 10, but also accuracy and stability. I haven't added much crystals yet, but for my ideal gear, I was planning something more like:
Leve (C) (Tyrant, BKoD) with d7cccd15
Killer Coat (C) (Iconos, Cerberus) cd7cccd13 (although if they make an enhancement for cerabes grystal, I'd prefer that over Iconos)
Party Goggles (Proto Leon, Baphomela)
and Dex Talisman (still in flux about crystals here)
with a Dex>Str build because bows have a greater benefit from the strength stat compared to bowguns, enhancing both the atk and crt dmg. I'd like to see what a bow can do compared to a bg when having the stats enhanced rather than the base attack. but I still have my bowgun just in case for sensitive bosses.

OP item in my opinion. Lol. Always crafts as slotted too. But untradeable.

Mostly using impact>snipe combo and lots of auto attcks
Crits go from 200k to 400k
And non crits from 90k to 150k
