You need matk and/or element damage for higher damage from storm.

Well mage is not a good choice as first char, you might need to leech your way to 150.
Best first char imo, is Katana. Since their lvl 3 skills (Zantei and Hasso) can deal massive dmg.
Second best is Archer, spamming Snipe can deal some decent dmg.

My first char is a mage. I found it easy to cap and its more versatile than one trick specialist builds. I used the same mage to 140 cap my smith synth by feeding it NC when I needed cloth and medicine mats to craft or stat. To grow it I used a table of bosses to grind for each level and NC in between. This was before CorynClubs searchable database..

Edit: here is what i used [IMG]

Not necessarily. A mage is more bendable then classes with little to no aoe's. Mages can actually be some of the best as they are the easiest to equip to deal decent damage. Whereas those other ones may actually need to leech more often. Mages have the option of farming their own nc's, farming mobs for exp and/or materials, and boss farming. Single hit high damage classes would have trouble with nc's as they don't usually have storm, they'll take longer farming materials and their main focus for leveling is main quest and boss farming, a mage does not have those limitations. And speaking from experience, mages don't even need boss type xtals or upgraded xtals to be decent. My mage only had boss roga for the longest as her only boss xtal on any equipment and was doing a good job. I mainly only had mp+150 xtals.

Don't worry about what the person has mentioned. Mages are great. Other classes are great as well. It all depends on the person playing the character.

Oh, you also should use combos for higher damage as well. If you don't have enough points for bigger combos use impact>storm(smite), it'll increase your damage output.

My first char was mage. I hustled to the top by completing the MQs, then by boss/mini boss runs (did lots of mino farming to max CP and for money) and mob farming w/ mercs. I used 1HKO leveling guide when there were no players at boss and couldn't find a pt. I made sure to get all +10% bonuses. I used xp books when I have them, used 4 or 5 a time in good pt's. Good luck!

You can check the wold map. There are now maps that have level indicators and some icons showing if the regular mobs there are near your level. Any aoe spammer love that if you are having trouble in dealing with mini boss or boss. Just be forwarned that if your level is lower than the normal mobs you see, you get auto aggro from them. So better watch your back and keep on your toes. If you are in a pickle you can just do an escape trick to your land or your guild bar, and you wont get to see your char get ko-ed. Not doable in boss runs tho, lol.

As a DW main that had to carry his ass from lv 1- 150 through varios mobs n boss hunts. I didnt realize mq would hold so much xp till lv 70 ._. ( I used my mobs > eerie > gespent > forest wolf > mino lvling method with leechin ofc ) I feared mino during those days ;_;. Gotta say, either grind a few weeks for gear n shet then try to carry pt with proper proration and decent playstyle with pots n stuff. Or plain out leech.

DW + SDM = EB drank like water

I made a new char. and so far I've got him to level 107 with only 1st chapter of MQ completed and farming mobs. Once I hit the mob cap leveling cap, I'm planning on finishing MQ and hopefully getting super close to 150. Looking around 140+ hopefully since mobs will take me around Lvl 130.

After you are done with mq it'll be slow but easy to level up, even without nc quest. Boss and mini boss grind (with exp books if possible) in a +/- 3 lvl ratio. Within 3 lvls is best, you'll get the most exp out of it. And there are plenty of bosses and mini bosses that fall under those lvls. You will reach a point that bosses won't be high enough unless you do nightmare mode so from that point you grind mini bosses.
