I've never touched the production trees so I'm not sure what I should be building for. Mainly what I want is to use production classes for the sake of money (which seems to be more important in this game than in any other game). I have three free character slots and if that won't be enough I can just buy some more. What production classes do I need to have for my objective?

You probably want to have full tech character to change apps and do 3 lock yourself. Saves you the trouble of getting scammed when you ask for 3lock in Sofya. Next is probably a full luk character for refine +A and +S. This allows you to sell +S refine which gives quite a bit of revenue. Some boss drop weapons/event (Lezvie, Master Tonfa, Fireworks) require you to refine to +S yourself if you want to use them, so being able to do this yourself is the best. If you get your full TEC character to the cap you can also stat for yourself, which saves you money and allows you to sell stat (mana is hell to farm and the prices aren't really too worth it tbh.) After that if you want to actually craft weapons, STR/DEX or DEX/STR blacksmiths make bows/swords/(ktn if dex first)/(2hs and halberd if str first) which you could sell. High atk weapons (base+10, base+20) net you a ton of profit. Slotted equips also well for higher on CB.

EDIT: For profit, I highly advise AGAINST armor BS. Everyone and their grandma has a VIT BS that doubles as a nub tank so armor prices are at an all time low. < 70k for 1s holy robe (used to be ~200k before shells), 4m for 2s adv garb (what has this world come to?), 15m-22m for 2s holy robe (used to be rare and 30-33m)

Depending on your strategy for making spina, you can make a dedicated weapon / armor smith char (making one or two types of equipment but with full potential) or a multi purpose blacksmith-synth-in-one char for refine/synth etc

The former can pretty much be like any dps except the personal stat would be set to TEC and some skill points dedicated to smith skills. I don't have a smith of this category but from what I can tell, events like anniversary and new recipe releases are best opportunities to mass craft and make spina.

The latter is TEC > DEX ; TEC for refine / synthing potions, DEX for increasing difficulty points. Once capped and sufficiently leveled in smith / alchemy proficiency, this type of blacksmith can be 5-in-1, as in refine / stat / synth / lock / craft (DEX allows you to make bowgun, bow, 1hs, katana, not full potential but enough for full crit 16 at level cap 165). Crossfire is recommended for leveling this type of blacksmith.

Not a must to have production class.
If you prefer battle than crafting, your spina source is hunting Boss Material. In this case, first you need to build a low investment class like Magic and Shot skill, then continue fight the boss to get the material, if you lucky enough u can sell the xtal you get. Once you have enough spina, you can start invest to your main character, or to your Production class if you still need one.

For your information, Venena will be the next famous boss because her material able to craft all type of weapon and armor.

I'd love to do this method but unfortunately I won't be very useful since I'm still using what can be called a beginner set, which is why I'm trying to make spina in the first place. But I'll definitely keep this method in mind.

I was having second thoughts like i made a pretty useless character having max tech rest to dex and its a synth and a statter. It is currently at lvl 150 and to see that bow is recommended made me feel better since i choose bow tree and thank goodness i did not mess it up.

Dex for bows, int for staves. You can mess up on finale since even if you got 1 int it is still a decent damage if you have the right op gear set. But cf if messed up(like tec-int and you still choose bow skills) it will still be messed up. Tec-dex gives a lot of perks since other than cf damage it opens up more recepies and higher item dificulties. Plus, if you equip a full ampr gear, decoy shot may not be a requirement but it is a good option nonthe less (with cf you are forced to prorate to kill time. Unless you love spamming snipe while you wait for the charge.)

In this case, first you create a New Mage, INT up to 30-40 then the rest go for LUK, this mage will become your farm mage in future
    Skill is LVL10 Process, LVL10 Drop+, LVL10 Storm,
Equipment if you have the FireWork from Summer Event, use it else get all element MD.

From now, leveling till LVL25 then go farm Shell Mask, get bitter nut and Nisel wood for leveling. If you would like to have some income, leveling using Nisel Wood and sell all the bitter nut. Continue Leveling till you LVL50, if possible make it LVL70-80.
Then create a craft smith, about 50 point to TEC and the rest stat depend on your craft types, feed him Bitter nut or Nisel wood till Level 50.
After this create another stat smith, throw all stat point to TEC, and feed him like above to level 50.

Another 1-2 week, halloween event will come, it's basically is Cake Farming Event. In that period, check in INT 1 Sofya & CB which cake is high demand, use your LUK mage to farm and earn some spina. Or you can collect all CAKE and exchange to Book, then sell it. When event end, you should have some spina and level, go for NC now.

At December event, farm Huge Iron Ball to leveling your Main, Craft Smith, Stat Smith and LUK mage, Level 100 would be enough for both LUK Mage and Craft BS ( First Sta 255 and Another stat is about 40 ), for Stat Smith try leveling till LVL 110 then second stat go for INT to be Finale Mage or VIT to be a Tank.

Then you can start farm the Material for craft, some craft material is very cheap so you can direct buy from CB. Once your Craft Smith BS able to craft the latest Weapon/Armor, you will start have some extra spina. use the spina to get a better gear for your Stat Smith or Main to enjoy your game.

If you feel this taking too much time....just go for scamming or RMT....its up to you.

Thank you for the (somewhat lengthy) tips! I'll definitely remember to apply them whenever I can.

If you don't have much spina in the 1st place then stay away from crafter blacksmiths. They're a bit too costly to build.

Synth/Refiner/Statter is probably the less demanding one Spina - wise.

I'd probably just make a Luk mage though if you're just starting.

Luckily I have a farming mage so I don't think I'd have a problem with that. I'll probably just get started on a tec character, then, since that seems to be my best option atm.

While you’re leveling synthesis proficiency, you can also sell some of the recipe items for decent spina. Revita V is the same healing amount as Energy Bottles, so you can probably toss it up on CB and have it sell. In addition, the AMPR magic stones (stone of absorption?), power candies, and Tera speed potions (the 1k aspd one) also sell quite well. I think Tera pots are the most expensive out of this list and fairly easy to craft as well, materials wise. Mithril ore from nemicos in the sewer near Hora, and mushrooms(?) from the sick mushrooms in the forest close by.

If you’re aiming to get 3lock, crafting revita V to prof lvl ~85 and then to 100 with either AMPR stones/mithril > HP mithril (or mithril ore to mithril, don’t remember which) is a fairly simple path. In general you stop getting alchemy recipe experience when you’re +11 prof levels above an item level (e.g. fighter red loincloth is item lvl 117, the max you can get is 128 synth prof before it says too easy to craft), so that’s something to keep in mind when picking recipes to level on. For smith I noticed the item lvl-prof gap seems to be around 15 levels.

From my experience the highest exp you can get per craft is ~25% when the item level’s way above your synth prof. And then as your synth prof rises above the recipe’s item level, you get diminishing returns until it’s like 1% per craft.
