Do we need to have a blacksmith/alchemist character?

With the limited 3 free slots, is it a must to have one production-type character (blacksmith/alchemist or anything)?
How do you use your character slots?

 

You don't have to have a production class. Joining a guild with smiths and statters is always a good work around. The thing you will probably need is a reliable farming character, be it full luk or high damage, to get spina or to help your statters/smiths get the mats needed to craft for you. Although the most reliable unreliable way of making spina is having a production class (refining and weapon/armor crafting). Synthesis doesn't bring in big bucks anymore and the cost investment to get 5-lock is too high for most people.

I personally prefer statting and synth to smithing so I have a full tech statter and synth. I also have a full luk mage for farming mats for my statter so guildies can get stats at a reduced price.

 

You're not limited to three free slots. You can buy more using the free orbs they often give out.

Production class will not only make you money but also keep you geared with updated weapons, stats, apps, potions for cheap. I believe production builds are fun to make and maintain. They require a different kind of play but I found it part of the challenge.

I forgot that we could use orbs to buy the character slots and limited myself with just three, haha!
However, I notice that most of the blacksmith builds to create equipments would suggest us to max the stats according to the weapon we want to create. In other words, if we want to make both staves and swords, we have to create two different blacksmith builds?

 

Yes and no. You can still craft staves and swords with 1 blacksmith. The main difference is that the potential on the weapon will be worse if you don't have the correct stats. Refer to the coryn.club smithing guide for more information (part 3 talks about potential).

 

Smiths can make anything, but specialized smiths will make useable gear. If you want the most versatile crafter smith go with dex >str. Dex/str smiths can make bows, bowguns, onehand swords. I believe the majority of the player base would be covered by what it could craft. When we reach 190 cap it would be able to make high pot two handed swords.

 

Having a blacksmith that crafts equipment isn't really needed. But if you do make one, you can get profit especially if you make newer equips with 2 slots or high 'atk + x' (increase of weapon atk from the base atk).
On the other hand, having a refiner BS (TEC stat) is quite important, especially if you're using untradable equips. Refiner BS can also be used as an alchemist for synthesizing equips and making potions.
Having a LUK mage for farming is also helpful (unless you're lazy like me). LUK mages can also be used to refine from +B to +A and +S. You'll only need lv1 refine skill for this.

 

There is another free slot after you complete chapter 5 of main quest if i remember correctly.
Im my opinion, alchemist with at least 3 lock is very useful to design your own style
Not really hard to obtain 3 lock now. Use the same chara for refine too. +E to equipment is quite a general level to achieve.

 

i think production class is important for rpg player anywhere anytime , but if u rich enough to make all the money forget it production class have big boring time for farming or lv up
