It’s very niche. But Quick Draw can proc on it which is very cool. Definitely shouldn’t be the main source of mp though.

So either they use decoy or not is a choice of gameplay
Different people different taste so its pointless to debate over that

 

Lol so my final summary is this - Decoy Shot with DW is too easy and therefore kinda boring

After the reset, I made sure i had 2 DW chars. One to handle a lot of situations more efficiently (like powerlevelling pets/guildies/friends), and the other that's more for fun. One is also a weapon smith and the other doubles as a very useful personal attacker merc. 4 birds 2 stones~

 

More than anything, this reminds me of the edginess of DW community before lv4 skills lmao

Well, I've been waiting for a moment like this to make this post (actually I was waiting on something more specific but this will do) and explain why me and Aya left the forum and game to a huge extent (but you've probably forgotten about me at this point). So yeah, sorry @Haroshi but I'm derailing this thread! (But it's already derailed so you won't mind right?)

This game isn't dying because "DeCoY iS bRaInDeAd", that's only a grain of sand in the desert of the real problem. What's this problem you ask? Let's see...
Saber Aura still isn't fixed and nobody bats an eye, Finale gets the shaft while TOOTH still reigns supreme, bosses have new mechanics that screw everyone over...
If you haven't guessed it, it's the devs' very questionable (AT BEST) decisions in game "balance", and sometimes downright incompetence. Hell they nerfed MTL tanks. MTL! FREAKING! TANKS! (FYI, now if a boss has an ailment affliction rate of over 100% [and on that note, CALLED IT; KNEW THEY USE OVER 100% AILMENT RATES FOR CERTAIN AILMENTS], then you will only reduce the infliction rate by 100% at max Aliment Resistance, and obviously you reduce it by less than 100% for lower amounts of Ailment Resistance).
"BUT THE DEVS ARE TRYING HARD! SEE THE NEW ASSASSIN SKILLS AND HOW THEY RESTORED OUR STUFF AFTER THE ROLLBACK!"
Oh please! They're trying hard to fix what is likely their mistake. The only cases where I will kinda accept it are:
- If someone actually hacked their servers for ransom and the disclosed issue is a cover-up, as some guy here stated (still have some doubts about that TBH)
- Inner sabotage (and in some cases, says a lot about the workplace)
- Faulty hardware (shouldn't they do maintenance checks on the servers every now and then though)
Hell, remember when they first took action against "tuyuls"? That was just a slap on the wrist; not like it was going to stop them, just make it more tedious.
The only real action taken against it was when the situation got out of hand ON THEIR GLORIOUS NIPPON SERVERS because our servers were dead!
And the rebalance suggestion for Assassin skills... "BaCkStEp Is ToO pOwErFuL sO wE nEeD tO nErF iT!" or "SeRuM iS fInE bEcAuSe ReCoVeRy AnD vAcCiNe TaKe ToO mUcH tImE!". That whole video had me laughing! How are any of those things fine?!
Now, if you enjoy Toe Ram, more power to you. A game is made to enjoy ourselves and have fun, be it casually or competitively. But this is one of the many reasons we don't find it enjoyable anymore and why we left it. (And yes @Akali097 PMD Sky is infinitely better it's not even worth a comparison, but I've already played it a bunch of times before you made the suggestion. Thanks anyway.)

Back to the topic at hand. Decoy is meta and is broken in more ways than simply overpowered. No reason to flex for having it or for not having it. Thread is kinda pointless IMO.

BTW Scye, your comment I just posted reminded me of someone bragging about having "the true info".

I use to not use decoy on my button lids except Bos since I thought it would suck.
Tried it a build one time and I’ve never looked back I always take it.
I feel like adding bosses like Wandering Wheel or Goouva that run around and teleport like Seele will make people less likely to take decoy over another skill.

Or they could finally buff ampr skills. I like rampage don’t get me wrong but I don’t wanna risk getting broken into tiny pieces to restore my mp

 

I wonder if players would use decoy less if the game wouldn't have such a dumb mp system..
If devs increase the players mp and decreased the mp cost of skills....like every other mmo has....

 

It is more like mp management problem.
Instead of spamming imp-shinecross(smite) why not shinecross-imp(save)-finale(smitel)? How much is the diffrence does it do inside the 2k mana pool?

 

The need to manage your mp TOO much is what the main problem is.
Other mmos give ya a HUGE mp pool to go nuts and play freely.
The reason why players like decoy is cause it gives them a little more freedom over the restricted skill usage.

 

Only problem with that is "it is only effective on stationary target" and a total reliance to tanks to hold it down.

 

If you need decoy on DW, that's when you know you're spamming too much.

Exactly, there isn’t much alternative

it is pretty effective on moving too tho because it recovers a lot of mp when it’s down and if the boss is in range for more than 3-4 seconds then it’s already payed for itself in mp and it dosent disappears very fast so the boss has a chance to walk back into range.

If you all see a good non decoy user that can out rank a powerful decoy user I'm sure the response on this thread will be different. But I guess you haven't and maybe you just want it the easy way. But that's ok as long as you respect us then we respect you.

 

Not a dedicated dw but still a beginner but as a beginner I see decoy as a niche. A powerful niche but regardless still a niche. If the boss allow me to use Decoy(not moving alot) , I'll use it. If not, I'll use my Ampr. The strange one is the one who keep doing Decoy in certain boss or the one who refuse to use Decoy when it should be used. Decoy after all is only a skill. We, the player, are the one who decide whether or not we need Decoy.

Yeah it's ok bro. I know you're not one of those players that already closed their minds. Toram is broken in many ways that's for sure. we're just trying to save what's left of it and save the players that actually love the old school action gameplay. That's the purpose of the thread but I don't know where all these salty players came from lol.

For saber aura I like it just the way it is now. Not all players can utilize it well even those decoy players.

I saw a guy talking bout fastkilling. I always fast kill. Speed is the key, I am a proration eater. Lucky you if you get atkr from me in a pt run.


For the newbies I don't hate you guys using decoy the message I'm sending is not for you. Decoy is good pillar to lean on as a newbie. We don't really care how you guys play we just want to gather players with creative minds .

For a fully equipped dual you don't need decoy to spam SC. For newbie please take your time, use decoy but don't make Decoy your core skill it gets boring real fast. Come join DS international chat players help each other there decoy or non decoy users.

Are you that desperate for online acknowledgement to stoop that low? Yet you seem to make fun of other people saying that they might be "deep down in depression". Who is the depressed one here again?

I feel bad for people that praise you as some sort of "dual wielder god" coz you are far away from being that. You try way too hard in a stupid MMORPG, take it way too seriously and always blame the players for following the meta skills instead of being creative when its actually the job of the devs to make creative, unique and useful skills that promote creativity in the first place which comes from skills being balanced. No one is suppressing new ideas, no one is bringing forward new ideas either yes but thats because there ARE NO GOOD IDEAS to begin with.

Stop acting like your playstyle is a lot better and unique than the decoy wielders because it is not. Not using a broken skill in a video game is not gonna place you on the moral high ground pedestal. You look more butthurt than the people that you are claiming to be butthurt.

 

Lets be honest, Toram was never exactly balanced. I remember -and still liked- old rampage that was impractical as heck yet people were near instant killing bosses with snipe. How about when they first added in resistant bosses, that was a fun time to be a knuckle main... I would love to see how people react if they ever nerf impact. Yea decoy is broken, its awesome for any build if you plan to use it so ofc people are going run it when they can. Just play how you like and move on, its a lot less stress to deal with.
