Test: Snipe's C. Rate % Reduction

2016. January 14: Critical rate of shot skill Snipe has been reduced after a 3 hour maintenance.
Tests were conducted to determine the decrease in the amount of critical hits. As the testers' CR equipment/stats differ, they shall be listed below.

Critical Rate modifiers in stats:
Tester A: CR+7 in weapon, CR+7 in armor, CR+10 in additional gear, CR+10 in all xtals. Total extra CR: 34 whole number. Plus Critical UP Lv10, DEX: 200, CRT Personal Stat: 12.
Tester B: CR+7 and CR7% in weapon, CR+10 in armor. Total extra CR: 7% and 17 whole number. Plus Critical UP Lv10, DEX: 209.

BEFORE MT:
Tester A

Overall CR = 54%

Tester B
Hits 47
Crits 20
Whites 27
Overall CR = 42.5%

AFTER MT:
Tester A
Hits 56
Crits 25
Whites 31
Overall CR = 44.6% ~ DROPPED BY 9.4%

Crits 19
Whites 47
Overall CR = 28.8% ~ DROPPED BY 13.7%

RESULT:
The average, or mid-point between both reduction percentages was 11.55%.
Without the extra CR in equipment, passive skill and personal stat, our conclusion is that Snipe's critical rate while equipping a bowgun has been decreased somewhere between 15~25%.
Time to add points in CRT.

Testers Mugami and Roche point that 25% is the most accurate reduction value.

*Here is a useful critical rate calculator tool (needs translator plugin).
The results given are for bows, so just rest 25% to the number it returns and that is the CR for bowgun.

 

Big enough to notice it, yes. But not big enough to spoil our dps. Still beating storm mages and 2hs.

Yes DEX > CRT.

STR doesn't give the hidden c.dmg stat to bowgun, just to swords.

EDIT: NineArts went and tested it out, the conclusion is that IT DOES APPLY! STR adds C. Damage and Stability for bowguns!

 

Not sure how you're defining a nerf, but that's definitely one. Not damage, your DPS is still the highest in the game regardless, just how often that DPS can be attained. And by sacrificing DEX stat for CRIT stat, or ATK gear for CRIT gear, the loss of maximum attack power is likely needed in order to maintain a strong Critical DPS.

It's a nerf, but only temporary, and seems fairly easy to work around, as you have demonstrated. Your Machine Gun Sniper is still a beast lol.

Not that big of a nerf if you ask me. Dps fairly fine even though I'm not on a full crit set and I still wouldn't recommend one at this point even with the little crit penalty. Your numbers should do fairly fine with a mixed set up and abit of a know how around damage drop off. Attack on normal snipes now matter just as much as crit ones as you are more likely to do whites than yellows.

Test using boss drop crit equip, crit dmg on B.B should range anywhere from 30-50k( or higher depending on dmg drop off)
And normal whites can go anywhere from 18-20ish k.
Crit chance : 3/5 times


Test on my own custom equip on same boss crit dmg range from 40-78k ( or higher depending on dmg drop off)
And normal whites range from 20-30ish k.
Crit chance: 3/5 times.

I also did a test on a normal non refined fw bow with ice arrows on same boss,
Crit dmg can go up to 40k and stays consistent because of stability in both wielding a bow and arrows. ( can easily be higher with a crafted bow which I am going to try)
Crit chances are definitely consistent on a bow.

Well said by aiko I use a magic sniper. So i don't have high dmg sniping. But still i overpowered some snipers and 2hs and also mages. I don't think its around 10-20% of crit rate. Maybe its just 5-10%. I wear c777 arm and i always saw yellow dmgs so it means my sniper always crits. Im going to test it using a boss drop equip XD

You need more snipe to exactly know the % of crit rate.
Precaria already did it with more than 50 try, which is good enough. so the of Precaria test is more valid than just your assumption
Should be better if someone make 100 sample of snipe, to give more accurate result.
I'll use @Precaria data for now. so about 15% critical drop. Assume this test using lvl10 snipe rite?

 

It is definitely around the 15% drop..these were based off on snipes only. But imo, it's not bad at all. Just gives us more kinds of methods to consider and I love the bow boost as bow users been sitting in the back burner for a long time now. Now all we need is a better bow @___@.

Lv.1 Snipe = -18% crit rate, and each additional level decreases this by 2% when equipping Bows
Lv.1 Snipe = -20% crit rate if xbow

no more frequent +50% additional damage from common criticals (damage * 1.5) for xbows

xbow: 1 Dex = 4 Atk
bow: 1 Dex = 3 Atk

@Precaria , can you do a Stability test on Paralysis Shot? I've been doing some computing on my incoming v3 build, just wondering if they give 1% Stability on every level on xbows and bows, or it's a constant Stability value, just like on brawler's Shell Break mechanics (constant values and activation rate).

hmm always crits...OK no crit stat...if you can do a video vs silver roar solo I'd appreciate it 2 types of crit base crits+skill crits both vary depending on the bosses evasion ability.

Power shot-added an ability to increase crit rate on slow target.

Have you tried combo moebia+pow shot+snipe?. it might cover the nerf..
