Hello guys, Im a newbie to toram online and currently trying 1h dagger (tempest build) as my first class. At level of 104 (pure dex build), I find myself dealing way lower damage than my friend of another class (tempest 2-3k for the first hit) and i also suffer alot from the slow mp recovery due to the slow attacks. May I ask if pure str would be better for 1h blade? And also if it is necessary to get quick draw from shot skills or are there other alternatives?

I think i totally messed up my skills by maxing out hidden arm and intensive knife.. So, i would appreciate it alot if someone could share their builds to me ><

    Thank you!

for 1h stat depends completely on build like in dw 3 stat r used agi, dex, str
and other 1h class like 1h dagger and 1h knux (swordfu) need str for high crit dmg

u can use shell break for mp recovery if u dont want to use shot skill (Quick draw)
here is a 1h dagger build

hmmm... i just knew shell break could recover mp through guard break. will a level 1 shell break n level 10 shell break be a huge diff in terms of recovering mp??
btw thanks for the build but the build is mainly about strike stab but im more towards sword tempest build haha

    My main is 1h dagger.
So hold up...you'll need to consider the following.

    1) Dex to str build | Atk%/Dex% items ideally. As your criticals are going to be lower in the early game. So you'll need to utilise spiral air (buff scales with dexterity) and astute to regulate critical.

+ Cheaper to manage weapons as you don't need to rely on player made gear.
+ High accuracy reduces graze initially.
    + More equipment flexibility

    - Lower dmg output compared to a funded str build (initially)

~ Remember refining your weapon helps a lot. Aim for +B refine.

You'll eventually have Max dex and str. So it's not such a biggie.

    2) MP regen.
    You'll need to either...
    + Increase your mana pool
    + Increase AMPR
+ Utilise skill points into quick draw (last option)

Ideally use equipment over skill points to achieve the desired outcome.

    3) Attack speed.

One winged head band with candela xtal will give you +900 Atk so, it's a solid choice over time warp watch.

    4) Strike stab VS Tempest.
    Well player preference....

My tempest hits for about 35k/15k tick.. About 120k+ with full dex. But tempest can't utilise the battle skill whack, as the damage has a space associated with the attack (i.e it's an area effect over area or a point away from the player).

Where as Strike stab for me can hit above 55k+*3 with full dex.

Only down side is you lose crowd control with strike stab. But that's a preference aspect. The difference in dmg between the two will not give you priority over attack rank.

1h dagger is more likely to get breaker.

The passive for dagger skills (hidden arm etc) scale with normal dmg, so dex builds can benefit more so, and makes the case for using poison over slow. As poison dmg is calculated with dex and physical pierce. Atm my poison is about 1500-2200 dmg per tik.
I've yet to hit a ceiling for poison damage, but one probably exists since they raised the dmg of poison.

Here are my stat's at 140: I'm stealing attack rank, thanks to my equipment. But not with any consistency. A well geared halberd, or other dps class can beat a 1h dagger.

Only benefit is the versatility, but often that's not enough to perform well in Nightmare plus.

First of all, thank you for your time taken to reply my post, really really appreciate it.
Your reply has clarified me alot but i still have some confusions about some points
    1) if i were to switch my stats into pure str build, would you recommend it? given if i could possibly get a +B sword with crit rate n dmg? And also, would you recommend maxing out astute and spiral as you said spiral s buff scales with dexterity? Im probably gonna be really low on dex if im switching my stats..
2)i have tried to increase my mana pool to about 1.3k but i still seem to run out of mana rather quickly, would higher ampr help alot in bossing or only in mobbing? If yes what are the cheaper ways to increase ampr without sacrificing alot in dmg like equiping ampr xytals? How do you personally manage your mana??

Once again, thank you for your great reply. it really helped alot in having a veteran 1h dagger to guide a novice like me!

    1) If you're going str, then you won't need sonic blade, spiral air and tempest. I'd go for strike stab personally if you're filling str first.

Astute will give you +25 base crit so I'd Max that, and Max trigger slash. Trigger slash is a good way to end a short combo, so you can benefit from the ampr buff it provides. As long as you have a good mana pool and aspd, you should be able to fill a bar in about 3 normal hits.

In saying that, you'll ideally manage your combo points. I tend to have two * 1mp combos. One to activate trigger slash during my recharge phases, and one that does dmg.

I'll show you my skill points distribution later...

    2) I don't use any xtals that focus on ampr, and have around 850-1000mp when trigger slash is active I fill a bar in three hits.

My MP comes from ifrid + fort armor, boss version from imitacia (sp?)

Spamming combos isn't such a good idea, and doing a normal hit let's you get a feel for how the proration is going, i.e if you're doing higher than normal, normal damage then it means if you activate a skill you're most likely going to do low damage.

On the other hand if your normal damage is lower per hit, then quickly unleash your combos.

You definitely have enough mana. If you're not happy with the ampr, use a few fairy sewing kits in your avatars and you might luck out with some good ampr stats.

Mobbing and bossing is similar for 1h if you're using tempest. But if you're using strike stab, you will not be farming that often. Unless you're farming a mini boss.

When I'm free I'll post my skill point distribution and combos. To give you an idea of how I operate. And some indications of the damage.

Depends, it can potentially do as much dmg as tempest for blade users, yet is more reliable in that it is all directed at the target and can also benefit from the battle skill whack.

Personal preference, but I use strike stab atm as it has a faster motion speed over tempest and Gatling. Based on how I use my combos.

    Damage Combo:
I'll probably change the location of trigger slash, don't think it speeds up impact.
    Screenshot_20171219-065040.png

1mp combo, 150% dmg strike stab with poison status and +25% criteria base buff from astute. 13-25k *3 normal hit dmg or about 22k-55k+ *3 critical hit. (not elemental dmg, and no item boosts.)

Have hit for 69k*3 but unsure how to replicate that. Probably due to whack and high proration favouring skill dmg on Twilight dragon.

    MP ampr combo:

    Screenshot_20171219-065047.png

Short fast combo, to activate trigger slash buff. Leave the buff active so you have higher ampr on normal hits. My normal attacks are fast, so I have my mana recharged faster than MP charging in battle. In addition when you evade you also recharge mana with dagger.

No, I use poison dagger as I'm full dex so I gain high poison damage, which is enhanced by my high physical pierce slightly. Around 1k-2k per tick... Probably doesn't do as much dmg, but since I use it with a save tag, the initial hit is low but I still benefit from the high poison status damage.

I just find slow is a useless status to place on bosses.

Oh, it's actually intentional. If you read the skill descriptions in the menus for each skill. You'll see the effect the weapon has on shared skills.

This is with full dex, so with full str and critical +, you should be hitting higher @ level 140. I'd say about 30-40+% more damage. Once you're full str & dex damage is almost identical, and it just comes down to gear and the situation.

Damage is a lot higher on normal difficultly, which is mainly what you'll be doing. Except for event bosses.

I can post some of the 60k+ hits later, but that isn't a real representation of what you'll experience.

Yes, but the actual damage for the status poison is calculated with dexterity. So the initial hit from the dagger is int, then poison is calculated with dexterity.

    Poisonous Effect:
    Poison Damage: DEX ÷ 2 + ATK ÷ 100
    Effective Time: 10 Seconds.

The skill damage, or initial hit (non status dmg) : uses Int, Agi and dex.
    SLv 10: (White Dame + 228 + AGI × 2 + DEX ÷ 2 ) × ( 0.75 + INT × 0.0100 )

Oddly enough, poison status effect damage is counted as physical damage. And can be increased with physical pierce.

They did update the damage for poison, well after I created this build. So they may include int now into the status damage calculations. But, the reason I use poison dagger over spike dart is that I use poison (save) to inflict a status for strike stab, and with save the poison aliment damage isnt reduced.

    https://en.toram.jp/information/detail/?information_id=2765

Considering your status ailments damage is twice mine, then INT must contribute a similar to lesser amount than dex, as I have no int stats. I think for every +2% of dex I added with avatars with full dex stat, my poison status dmg increased by about 250-300. And 3% pierce scaled damage well.

I'll hit up the Japanese forum and see if someone has updated the poison calculations.

Poison damage is just poison damage it is unaffected by proration or any pierce. It does have fractional component now tho my poison tick went as high as 10k on platinum potum coz of its high hp.

Also you can take lvl1 poison dagger and lvl10 spike dart as spike dart gets a huge buff on damage with full dex while poison dagger even at lvl1 it gets 77% chance to inflict poison you can still use it to inflict poison, its damage does not scale much by dex its rather increases by int more.

And finally do you mind sharing a link for the japanese forums? Just wanna see what they have in store.
