is the increase rate in skill proficiency constant or does it depend on whether the pet actually uses the skill while summoned? I haven't been paying much attention to it and now somewhat confused, can someone confirm one of these true?

There are 2 types of pet skills. Active and passive.

Active skills gains exp per use unless restricted by nature.

Passive skills gain exp per mob killed but only on targeted mobs only.(if you use aoe it get skill exp on your target, NOT on other mobs that the aoe hits.) Exp amount is calculated per kill, not on how much exp the target have. So killing a raffy and killing iconos gives you the same pet skill passive exp.

Restriction: gentle and timid nature restrict active skill being used. Thus they level up very much like a passive pet skill under these condition.
