    I got an Aunigma from the latest update, but was wondering whether I should use it over my Curled Horns. I'm leaning toward Aunigma, but unsure as to whether I should spend the money refining if and putting a spendy xtal in it...
    I don't have much DEX in my build at the moment, so would the stab +8% generate more damage? I saw some thread here a while ago where someone claimed it increased damage by quite a bit.

    Curled Horns
    DEF24
    MATK+4%
    Stability+8%

    Aunigma
    DEF37
    MATK+5%
    DEX+2%
    HP+300
    Water Resistance - 25%

    Bandage eyepatch gets higher max hits than both of them, but it isn't better than both of them.

    Aunigma: Offensively, +5% MATK, +2% DEX. The dexterity doesn't add anything to mages yet, or maybe 1 MATK if rounding works that way (which is nearly impossible to test). So it is just +5% MATK. That is essentially 5% spell damage, since it doesn't seem like anything has exponential or power-law scaling.

    Bandage Eyepatch is better than that, offensively. +3% INT, MATK, Weapon ATK. Weapon attack is a low component of ATK and MATK, but it does exist; it is under 10% of base MATK (before percentage boosts). Two 3% boosts (although INT isn't 100% of MATK either - but combined with +Weapon Attack, that is around a full 3%) is 6.09%. The eyepatch is stronger than Aunigma, but yes it is worse defensively... barely.

    Curled Horns has MATK+4% and Stability+8%. I am 99% sure just by general game experience that stability is the lower bound of the damage you do. Every attack has randomized damage; the maximum hit is calculated from MATK, enemy's MDEF and Magic Resist, proration, and guard or not, and then what you actually hit ranges from stability% to 100% of that maximum. By increasing your stability by 8%, you increase the damage floor by 8% but not the damage ceiling, so your average damage increases by 4%. Two 4% boosts is 8.16%. Eyepatch is better if you are trying to find the largest number you possibly can, but curled horns are mathematically superior.

    I like that term "mathematically superior" . And yeah, I prefer Curled Horns over the other two add. That 8% stability give a huge boost to curled horns.

    True that, but imo if you could combine curled horns with a stab% staff or armour that has matk% int% and stab% somehow you would really see a big difference.

    Anybody has any idea is if the +8% stability is calculated during or after applying the stablity formula for magic attack?
    Formula for stability of magic attacks is,
    (Weap stability +100) / 2

    Assuming a 50% stability staff, the actual magic stability could either be:
    75% + 8% = 83% or
    (58%+100) / 2 = 79%

    This is the formula in CDMG. CDMG base is 150%

    7% = 150% X 1.07 = 160.5%
    11 = 150% + 11% = 161%

    If u convert to stability I think it will be like this. Example the base stability is 80%.

    8% = 80% X 1.08 = 86.4%
    8 = 80% X 8% = 88%

    I like curled horns too. When fighting strong bosses, it usually takes some time so I guess a more stable damage is better than burst less stable damage. :)

    The % in +stability is the "units" of stability. Stability 0% to 100%, in other words 0 to 1, so +stab% is raw addition. +stab%% would be the equivalent of Critical Rate +X% or Critical Damage +X%. I don't know why critical rate isn't labeled as a percent even though it is... They just don't have everything standardized.

    One thing I'd like to mention is that, due to the formula above, that could mean Curled Horns only adds 4% stab for Magic skills, which isn't that great.

    EDIT: To explain this reasoning: unlike the Crit Rate and Crit Damage stats, which are calculated after stat + equipment calculation, this is a formula that is skill-specific, executed after you cast it. With good coding practices in mind, the "stability" in the formula is most likely your total stab, and not only your weapon stab.
