Best DPS class

Just 2H and halberd? How about bowgun? At tapir i have seen ppl specifically looking for dps snipers. Unless tapir is afraid of sharp arrows ppl wont be looking for snipers that much right?

 

Bowgun has been outshaded by recent upgrades: Bow snipe now deals damage comparable to BG in exchange of BG being able to Armor Break with it at a low rate. Add that with Bows being unaffected by the crit rate decrease from Snipe, having a higher chance to proc status effects from their skills (namely Paralysis Shot's, Smoke Dust's and Snipe's) and having more stability (BGs only gain stability from STR, and at the same amount as Bows; Arrow stability boost is halved for BG), and you got yourself a big meta change. The only reason to use BG is for a more varied selection of subhand weapons (Bows can only use Arrow).

As for your main question, there is no absolute best DPS; only best DPS for certain situations.
Halberds have very high burst damage making them the ruler of quick fights.
2H have the highest ATK gain per STR and, while they lack the option for a subhand weapon, they have insane crit damage and crit rate (based Astute). This allows them to skip DEX altogether (even though grazing is a thing) and focus on being more survivable, making them great at slightly longer fights.
Bows have the range advantage and Snipe, which has insane damage and Armor Break chance. Bosses that screw melee classes are torn to shreds by those.
And finally, Mages own in longer and difficult fights: graze is a huge nerf to physical classes, and magic is not affected by it. Higher difficulties has a tendency to ramp up bosses' dodge to 11, but mages can't miss... ever. Sure, a boss might move out of Storm's AoE, but with a good tank, they have an obvious advantage. They also are great when the rest of the party only deals physical damage.

I just wanna say all skill tree has each own merit and weakness.

The other reason to use a bowgun instead of a bow is to have a native light element weapon, since we don't have light arrows yet to the best of my knowledge. But then again, an off element light bow is probably still better than EBG with all the bells and whistles (original light, damage to dark +13%, ATK+7%, CR+13 // vs. non-original light, damage to dark+X%, CR+13).

 

Wow... Fu builds can prorate too yah know... Its not like they are banned from doing basic attack lol... And considering that heavy smash gives lethargy debuff (am i right on this one?) which gives -25% fractional dmg... They can serve as decent semi tanks too...

 

Well no semi2 built. N to be precise I will kick any fu user in ultimate mode high lvl

 

But why? Any pure-dps fu build is just as squishy as any pure-dps halberd or 2h... No iconos, roga or cerabes... Kicking em just cuz they got knux as sub equip is pretty low-ball imo...


(sniper not included cuz even building pure dps on them they can still easily survive due to range advantage)

But if fu is in party well 3dps<1fu
Coz lower the dmg alot! So for normal easy boss okie. But when boss hp gets over 10m well better kick them
N to be precise the best all situations dps is mage /bow.

Even a spammer sniper can ruin a whole party's proration... A dagger mage is every physical players nightmare spammin those dagger throw with 0mp cost... Its in the player if he spams or not... Not the class itself...

 

I have a question! Would a 1H arrow user's snipe deal an equal amount of dmg as a bow/bowgun user??
Also i think that for bosses that move around a lot like imitacia (gotta go fast xD) mages would be less effective since storm misses most of the time. And even if u were a mage fu, it would be hard to deal dmg without attracting aggro (which would probably kill you). But with a proper tank mage fu would be an ok choice. But wouldnt bow/bowgun and halberd users have a bigger chance to deal more dps?? And even without an op tank wouldnt bow/bowgun user be able to dps even if it attracts aggro at times because the attacks are long ranged?? Im pretty sure they would though

 

This is the most repetitive thread in existence. Other than that there is no firm class that fully surpraces others. In general they change based on boss. Currently if u want a party build bow / mages seem to be most in demand. 2H and halberd are good but most users tend to spam and most parties prefer to not have them. But the overall dps is completely dependant on boss. Some bosses Mages will completely overtake you. for Some snipers do great. Fu builds are a great choice in my opinion. But yeah

omg there is no dps in toram all depends condition, best team is the highst dps
