CLUELESS COMEBACK - Halberd Version

So after a century, i decided to reinstall this game and wanted to take a look of all the changes - wondering if there's anything interesting. Lo and behold - people wielding spear-looking weapon that turns out to be a halberd. A halberd! That's my personal choice everytime i play a PC MMORPG! Read thru some guides and as it turns out - based on my uber outdated knowledge of the game - it sounds like a 2H sword with flowery stuffles going on with all the arrow / dagger sub skills~

Also - based on what I've read - STR all the way then all your gears should have crit /cdmg. Looks like its forte is damage-dealing thru an array of combo skills coming from different weapon trees. Please correct me if I'm wrong coz that's my interpretation based ONLY from the current threads. Technically, I'm alone in the game and I've lost contact with my "toram friends" so I can't ask anyone - unless i decided to shoutask spam in towns which is not a good idea.

So here's the dilemma...
I really wanted to use halberd but I don't do the damage-dealer play style. I'm more of a tank and my last character was a S&S (Sword and Shield) Tank/Breaker type with an almost insane MP recovery rate. Is it even possible to create the same build with the Halberd (not sure of its ASPD capacity yet). Or is it an exclusive build for damage-dealing and deviating from the norm would render it useless and would be branded as a bandwagon-er?

Heres a few points of difference in the possible 1h tank and a possible halberd tank.
--->1h get access to shield which halberds dont which in turn gives them Guardian the ultimate aggro generator at the moment which makes shieldless tanks at a huge disadvantage when aggro generation is compared. I was salty for weeks after asobimos decision to limit halberd sub to arrows and daggers halberd+shield would make the most powerful semi tank but no sparta for us it seems.
--->Halberd auto attacks are actually the 2nd slowest amongst all classes right after dw so ruining any possible chance for high ampr/sec also they dont have any ampr boosting skill like trigger slash.
--->There are many spears that give guard rate and guard power making it a class with possibly highest guard rate/power shieldless but it still wont catch up with a guard rate/power of a shield user.

--->So in conclusion halberd is not the best choice of weapon to make a pure tank with but it still can make a decent tank if you use the right set of gears like aggro% stats and using high mp skills like smoke.

 

For mp recovery you can use that halberdskill that gives mp when your health is low i forgot what it is
For your guard rate and pow get the ice spear + parrying dagger combination
That should give you 40% guard power and eva
And also mini heal now only costs 1mp so thats pretty good too

 

Thanks a lot you two - least i get the idea on how it generally works. Honestly i couldn't get the gears into account yet coz I'm still broke. wondering how much a slotted feather cape with GS xtal is nowadays - back then this thing is really expensive and i hope i can sell this to get the funding i need for a fresh start (tho my ex in toram would definitely rip me inside out if she finds out, the xtal was a gift from her heh)

Anywho - from the looks of it, it definitely gives me the 2Handed Sword impression and i was never fond of it. No aspd, no shield (meaning no shield cannon, i really like this unpopular skill - most players would even ask what did i do), no trigger slash (AFA i can remember, its ampr and a little aggro), and some tweaking required with stats (unlike 1HS that uses DEX for both damage and accuracy).
Looks like i have to stick with the S&S gameplay-wise.

So yeah... this is me doing my 1st attempt for a closure.
Looks like Halberd and I are not meant to be together.
It's fun while it lasts - actually it never began in the first place (or maybe it did thru my imagination). But again, thank you for your response. T'was really useful for a renewbie like me ^^
