id say arrow mage; but only if you had alot of cast speed to take advantage of double or triple smite combos- using 5mp skill smoke dust.
dagger will probably give yu a better stats (the magical kind anway). also some people do not like the -25% def from using arrow as sub.
both arrow & dagger mages suffer from low accuracy & crit rate tho so certain bosses having physical skills dont even make a difference.

Any type of mage can be better in dps, even if u wear a shield and if ur competing for dps it mostly means ur in a pt so other mages will get the same proration and then it mostly comes down to combos/matk/element/cspd, and most of the time its better to use full 150% smites without save because it means getting to ur dps skills faster and whilst they are hitting u can mp charge but u need the hp for it, arrow/dagger mage are better for solo tho

Dagger has no cons, but arrow decreases defense by 25%

If you are a mage, the good thing is that most classes are physical attack users, so they help you to prorate:rolleyes:

If going against anything else u need more dps, for me the best dps is having a 150% arrow/wall and a 150% storm, it uses more mp but thats why mp charge with staves is so good

How so? I based it off of not needing to auto much with fast dagger/arrow skills with magic compared to staff/shield mainly using autoattacks to prorate, unless the staff/shield mage uses skills like shield bash/hf/sb or other physical skills

Yup staff-shield mages can also make self prorating combos , they also have better survivability due to shield buffs and they could also inflict stun whenever needed plus they would be burning less revs.

Thats partly true but some dagger/arrow mages are more tankier than shield mages, and not every shield mage uses aegis or protection, but they mostly use heavy mp combos compared to dagger/arrow, but imo shield mages are slower at soloing, ive always had a shield mage but against something that needs to be prorated im not really too keen on using it for a solo

I get that they have shield bash and shield cannon, but what else to prorate? Plus i don't see the point in running both shield cannon and shield bash...
I use a shield mage, but it's a mage and support character...and most people I know use shield mage that aren't support cause they don't want to die too fast in unfortunate situations and they have sp to spare.

Plus stun has a 30 sec (or more?) cooldown...it's great for party, excellent for brawlers, but the cooldown for a solo...

Only true bk IF the dagger/arrow mage would have vit as secondary stats , but then again if you are an arrow/dagger mage , but then again why would you get vit as secondary stats to a build that has its sole purpose is to dps? Shield mages could also use mp friendly combos with the proper set of save skills (i.e sneak attack or shell break) and last but not that the least , at least imo prorating goes both ways all class of mages would require prorating at bosses like ms.
There are alot of factors when it comes to soloing and shield mages has it better at most of the this cases probably except dps side.
