Does staff ATK matter?

    As someone who wants to spend the least spina possible on gear, would a 2nd Anniv Staff V with 152 ATK do any better than a plain ol' rod with 10 ATK? Everyone seems to be valuing the former staff because of its high attack, but mages are ideally based on MATK right? Wouldn't using either of the two would give you similar results (with identical IM7% stats)?

    tbh I thought staff ATK was only efficient for whacking colons in the head lol

    edit: I think staff ATK seems overrated from a poor player's perspective and wouldn't change much in battles... spending millions for a staff that has higher physical damage sounds wasteful in my opinion, but I'm not saying I'm right, so I came here to ask.

    Weapon atk is converted into matk aswell for staves, plus refine will give a huge diffirence between a 10atk rod and 152atk, like if both are +S ud get 37.5 matk more on the 10atk staff from 0 to S and on the 152 ud get 357 more matk from 0 to S, if u wanna know how much ud gain from from 0 refine to S refine, the formula is weapon atk x2.25 +15

    Staff weapon atk gets converted to matk 100% of it you should have at least checked before saying it is overrated.

    It's (wep atk(wep refine lv^2/100) + 1) + wep refine
    So it's x3.25 + 15 for +s

    So if I have a staff with ATK 152 and 1000 base MATK, the MATK will become 1152? Sorry if I sounded rude to say it's overrated! I didn't know where to check to find that information.

    Yep it will become 1152 if the staff was +S it would become 1509. And np

    Mhm x3.25 counting the actuall weapon atk, but i mean from 0-S refine only, not equipping the weapon too since it may confuse some ppl because of changes in stat with diff weapons
