DPS vs Snipe

I wonder which has the most beneficial yet the most versatility for(of course boss farming). Focusing on DPS(classes/hybrid) or snipe(ranger only for maximum dmg)? Which is more, faster? And stronger? To kill? Please state me which classes(or hybrid) so I can compare. State the maximum(dmg/etc) that MAY occur. Maybe we can mix? But that's not what I'm asking for. I want to know DPS vs Snipe. Sorry if this were a noob question tho.

Well, this question is slightly better than those "best DPS class".
Anyway, the advantage of Snipers is that they have a range over most other DPS classes, allowing them to attack at a relatively safe distance (even Mages don't get that luxury depending on the boss). Snipe also hits pretty hard, and having DEX as a main stat means you won't encounter too many grazing problems. And finally, having an Arrow gives them an element if the weapon doesn't have one, making equip investment for elements quite minimal.
The downside is that they have no crit (unless your name is @Alzarith and live to crit), and DEX's hit rate kinda becomes irrelevant at higher difficulties.

• Halberds are gods of high burst damage. Even Snipers cry at how much a Strike Stab can deal. On short fights, they are uncontested.
• 2H are what I consider a rival class: Snipers have all the benefits described above, while 2H have insane crit damage and high crit rate to back it up, making it hard to miss if they land Astute.
• Mages will win on longer fights and high difficulty bosses due to how underused magic proration is and because their attacks can't miss.

 

So..in your opinion, which has the highest skill dmg of all regardless of the duration? Strike Stab, Snipe or Astute?(Canceled the mage one)

Strike stab on halberd currently has the highest damage multiplier for a dps skill, not even heavy smash comes close according to the info that has been found its multiplier keeps increasing with more str. And whats more it costs 2mp making it even easier to spam it than other lvl3 dps skills so in a medium short run when their mp doesnt get fully depleted they almost got no competition in the dps field.

But yeah snipe doesn't come close to strike Stab. Strike with half the mp cost, nearly twice as much power, a skilled Halberd will always be able to beat a Sniper, just because wow how broken the skill is

 

I have but 1 more question. Should I go pure Halberd or Hybrid? (Halberd+Snipe looks OP tho/or etc) Or the pure build of Halberd skill is enough to fast kill any bosses?(regardless their def obviously)And what is the ratio should I use in investing my stat points?
Like 2:1 (2 Str: 1 Agi)

Str > crt > agi
