Hey DW masters. So, I wanna know about elements on your main vs. sub.

If, for example, I am fighting Grass Dragon Yelb, and put fire element on my sub weapon, will the fire damage be dealt the same regardless of if I have fire on my main as well? I realize the elements don't affect Phantom Slash, but for any other combat skills.

So just to clarify... Would it increase my skill damage to have both weapons have fire element? Or is having it only on the sub weapon sufficient?

The element should be on your main sword. ^_^

element on main overrides the element on your sub. so regardless of element on sub and main. if there's element on main, it will take the element of main. but if there is no element on main, it will take the element of sub, but in the case of auto attacks with element on sub only, only sub weapon damage will be affected.
skills like spin, twin, cross parry, charging slash take in to account the element of the sub.

in the case of charging slash which deals different damage per slash because it takes into account the stats of the swords in main and sub. if there is element on main, it takes the element of main for the main weapons damage, and the element of sub for the damage of sub weapon.
but if there is no element on main, again it takes the element of the sub and applies it to main swords damage.

I read that element is one of the few things that can be put on a sub sword. Is this not the case?

Cool, so I could have a different element sub weapon to use depending on which boss I'm fighting, and my main sword could utilize atk and crit stats, or DMG to element? This way I can save potential on main when statting, instead of applying an element. Am I thinking about this right?

yep. and dont bother with adding %damage to element unless you're making a dedicated sword for certain element bosses.

@Cypherian already explained it above. If you already have it on main, no need to have it on sub. ^_^

Thank you! I think I would consider making dedicated swords if I enjoy DW enough, but atk/CRT for now. :)

After making 2 mages, now it's a dw this time. I am hoping you're good with the stats as well, else you call always holler Cyph for dw stuffs, lol. ^_^

That is a good guide. After you've absorb, applied, and grasp the whole idea of a build, you can always add your own style to personalize it more. ^_^

True, and I may end up remaking my DW a couple times before I settle in on what I want. :bloodtrail:
