Eva-sword 1h Counter-Attack - Discontinued

I cannot verify whether it is true or not, as test results are still pending, however, based on initial test data, DEX seems to have a positive effect on evasion, This build, in progress, shows good results so far. So I post it here and hope some of you will try this build out and share your finding,

The purpose of this build will be maximizing evasion, and let Astute, Trigger slash and Rage sword provide mediocre DPS while the 2 hit from flash blast will enhance your DPS. Combining the active attack and counter attacks, this build should produce competitive DPS against other sword classes.

Why not use a DW you ask.
First, you lose the Evasion from sub weapon. Even if your off hand sword has Evade, it would not apply.
Second, with Phantom slash, Shadow step and Charging slash, a DW avoids getting hit. If you don't get hit, you lose the chance of evading.
Third, with dagger I have the potential to add Dagger skills for their utility / poison since this is a full DEX build.

Stat: Pure DEX

Weapon: Elemental sword / DEX 4%+Atk 4%
Sub: Army knife 10% Evade
Armor: BB Garb 6% Evade <Roga>
Add: Moke eye 10% Evade <Astol 3% Evade>
DEX II <Ooze>

Combo:
Astute > Reflex > Trigger slash > Rage sword > Flash blast (all Consec)

The purpose of the combo is to keep Reflex and Flash up, with Rage sword to keep aggro (no aggro, no evade). Trigger slash is to add DPS, so it can be added once you've acquired the more important skills,

Total SP: 136 (I have 140 SP at lvl 95)

Results so far is promising, at lvl 15, I evade 4-5 times in a 15 sec battle. 2 flash blasts hit 1.5-3.5k per counter-attack. Will have to see its damage potential at higher lvl for a more conclusive report. However, damage potential can be further increased through second stat (STR) or future skills (3T / 4T with Save+Smite).

well i got an approach to test that... if you think dex is influencing evasion, dont wear light armor and dont use reflex(dont use any evasion booster skill/equip/ite.). if your char is evading more frequent along with higher dex, then we can conclude it is a legit finding^^.

 

That raised a question... You can evade wearing unmodified armor, right? It's been a long time since I had an unmodified ^^

 

Hehe, another way to test that would be use the same evade gear on a non DEX character to see if there is a difference in evasion rate...

 

By equipping dagger. It will give you flat evasion regardless the armor.

Its harder to test evasion rate. At least you need to have 30ish sample (minimum) to make it valid. Or if you can formulate its algorithm and use simple regresion assumption to generate results til 100 also good(now i sounds like mugamo.. lol) . But i hate math. Hehehe

 

Maybe what you mean is mole eye and 1.5-3.5k for flast with lvl 15?

 

So I did this:

Same equipment:
Player crafted sword
Army knife
By garb
Mole eye
DEX II

For my lvl 95 full STR against Michelo, counting first 10 hits in battle, full STR evades average 2-3 times out of 3 tries (total 30 hits).
My lvl 23 (115 DEX) against Michelo, counting first 10 hits in battle, I evaded average 4-5 times out of 3 tries.

I don't know if it's just my luck or whether I'm still biased.

I first tried this idea with full AGI brawler, he evaded about 20-30% of the time, but not against Mochelo though...

My Sniper being full DEX used to evade a lot just from Reflex and BB Garb alone. No dagger / mole eye, so that's at least 20% difference without those gears.

To be honest, I still don't believe myself. So I really hope someone can help test this out or provide some data to compare.

 

At lvl 23, I was doing 5k and 2.3k to Mochelo. It's worth including this skill in your combo as the counter attacks are awesome.

Even if it turns out that DEX has nothing to do with Evade, I'll keep this build and restat to full STR. I love Flash blast.

It works extreemly well on astute - flash - impact- t.kick builds to and acts as a great aggro skill too remade a sword fu build fox style and loving it

Erm, a question, if you want to use rage sword, why not go with sword-shield all the way? There is this shield with 10% eva and it will also boost your rage sword damage.

In my opinion, damage from flash blast is not reliable since it rely on evasion proc. So if you are aiming for dps, it might be better to give more focus on spamable damage (combos) and think of flash blast's damage as bonus.

Theoretically, flash blast damage will shine when you are facing more than 1 physical attack based enemies/bosses and/or the boss has a really high attack speed.

 

add a knight talis+viola so u hog all the aggro.... and perhaps a rapier 1h drop/sofy craft if possible to save money

 

I agree. I have the Mirror shield too. Trying to feel the difference. With dagger, the evade animation is a backstep, which it doesn't seem to proc mid combo. So I might switch to shield. I also need to test whether flash blast scale with atk.

There are lots of questions surrounding this build now. So it is by no means any kind of a guide yet.
