Fairy Blaster (medium-budget build for Master's Tonfa)

I am loving the new Master Tonfa knuckles (nothing else comes close to this level of atk), but it has a huge neg (-100% crit). This build provides a medium-cost way to get around the neg, so you can enjoy the big juicy Chariot numbers which this weapon unlocks.

Note - the accuracy from DEX has been useful for breaking/interrupt purposes. Also the CSPD is nice for Chakra

Weapon: Master Tonfa (highest refine + atk xtals)
Sub: Any MD
Arm: Any with FC16 stat (HP xtal)

2019 Update: Using:

...is a great way (assuming the stun lands) to create space for you to prep your mp charge mid-battle, before popping Maximiser for a full mp recharge. Watch out for Stun cooldowns using this method though!

Build notes

Spoiler: Critical hitting with Tonfa

Without super expensive gear (i.e. 2s shaved ice hat) or xtals (like megiston champ), use Meikyo. My own crit calc:
0 (base+weapon) + 20 (arm) + 30 (add) + 4 (Avatar stats) + 5 (Crit Up passive) + 40 (Meikyo skill) = 99
2019 EDIT: Crit food buff is a thing lately, and can add up to +14 crit to your build too if you have friends that cook this

Spoiler: How much MP?

Aim for at least over 1400mp so that you can at least use Chariot twice before needing to charge again. Having 1600mp+ also gives you room to break bosses.

Spoiler: Fast full break sequence

Initiate boss with combo 1. Break 1st part before combo ends. Move to part 2. Use Sonic Wave to extend timer before you start tapping. Break part 2, move to part 3 and then break that too before boss starts moving.

Spoiler: Aggro management

Absolutely zero in this build so play more carefully, especially if the battle won't be short and there is no tank in the party.

What the heck is a gapapa!

 

Special stream code gift from a short while back. +588mp (+588 hp, phys barrier & magic barrier).

With cheap mp+250 xtal that gives my build +838mp.

 

Can gapapa be bought on cb ?

 

Nope, but you can farm venena this weekend for a boosted chance to drop the xtal instead for the same effect

I saw a lucky 470k at CG while levelling there (but brave aura boosted). Will share screens of these 3 later.

Build updated btw. Resonance (lvl 1) immediately enables a 3rd blast of Chariot before you having to recharge. But be prepared to spend an EB for it...

 

I've been wondering if it's better to go a non tonfa route with the MD

With tonfa, your combos with chariot are limited to being 7mp each, and thus can only blast 2 per refill, then 1 more with reso. With a regular knuck, you can get to 4 blasts and then 2 more with resonance. Throw in a decoy shot after an Etherflare ampr boost, and you might even be able to constantly knock out chariots without having to ever recharge.

True that 3 really strong blasts is nice, but I'm wondering if the latter might be better suited in long term fights. HMMM

 

This is viable too. You won't be restricted to meikyo and choice of gear but it depends on your numbers. The youtube vid on the other post proves that non-tonfa can be godly as well (but at what cost...?). Anyways, try it and let's dps battle!

 

I still feel they were using Tonfa with the Beer mug app.

 

Chinese dude was using an elemental knuck i think. Chariot color is blue (non-elem) with Tonfa

 

On a side thought (while daydreaming at work lol), if I changed completely from DEX -> STR for 2nd stat, then i would be sacrificing 4-5% atk, for a gain of 15-20% crit damage. BUT then i would also lose half my HIT (currently 450 @164)...

Honestly you're killing it compared to non tonfa. The extra 500 ATK you get over a non tonfa is just incredible.



About Dex vs STR. Hit doesn't really actually scale really well in this game from what I've noticed. My Agi Dex Knuck still grazes all the time and doesn't hit any more often than my non dex knucks.


As far as Going more Str/AGI. You might be able to do it with your tonfas, but non tonfa knucks just have really low base dmg and skill multipliers aren't super impressive on top of that. We need all the base dmg we can get.

On a side note, i wonder how a staff fu (with +S 2s weapon) compares to these numbers.

Ive also been testing a STRawler on the side now (re-fashioned full Str->Agi staff fu, with less passives but sneak+brave aura instead) and that's been pretty good too:

This guy has 400 less atk but 50~60 more cdmg, and general misses are more noticeable

 

That damage is insane man

 

Gotta milk it before the next wave of powercreep makes the tonfa weapon redundant (though that could be a long while later in the grand scheme of knuckles...).

Yeah. Tonfa is OP weapon with big neg. P Ava weapons were OP without any negs... I'd still very much welcome P Ava 2 though!
