I'm new to Toram and I haven't had the chance to test the capabilities of Poison damage, but from what I've seen bosses do to me it looks really low.

How is poison damage proc'ed and how is the damage of the poison calculated? In most games I have played I really loved spamming condition damage, so it would be nice if I was able to find a way to translate it into Toram.

EDIT: So I've seen that it is possible to use it, maybe not late game but should be fun to try. I plan on creating a character for it later, however I don't know what I should build into since Poison Damage doesn't get affected by crit. and I'm not sure if it gets affected by piercing. Also I'd be confused as to what to build my personal stat as.

Well, iirc, Poison Damage calculation is Int-based, so are you perhaps not using a Staff+Dagger Mage?

on players, it does damage based on your current HP
on monsters, it does damage based on the players DEX and the monsters HP
there might be more factors, but since the code is not accessible, that's all we know

I think you flipped it, dex is for ignite and int is for poison. I remember flipping out, asking myself, come on! bowgun+dagger build will be so worthwhile, and probably also 1h+dagger. I completely forgot that mages can use daggers. what's more, INT raises the poison dagger's damage.

I think it used to be Dex, until around March last year? They changed up stuff on how some Dagger Skills work with certain stats.

No it's definitely dex for poison and int for ignite.

Fun fact: they also flipped the damage formulas of Dagger Skills a couple times. Sometimes it uses your sub ATK (which, on Daggers, is level + AGI * 2 + DEX/2) as a bonus to the Skill Constant of some skills (namely Gatling Knife); sometimes they use the Dagger's Weapon ATK instead.

So is there a chance of Poison being my main DPS or is it just not gonna work?

Yeah, I think INT is for the poison knife skill damage and dex is for the poison damage.

ALRIGHT FOLKS! I HAD ENOUGH OF THE SPECULATION AND DECIDED TO TEST POISON AND IGNITE MYSELF!
So, from my results, I have acquired these formulas:
Poison Damage: 1 + DEX + INT/2 + ATK/10; only activates if the target attacks
Ignite Damage: DEX + INT + MATK/4; activates in intervals of 10 seconds
Note that this was done with a low level char AND effective as of right now (looking at you devs). The concerned skills were at level 10 (Poison Dagger and fire Magic: Javelin), so testing might have not been 100% accurate. Also, both damage types will leave the target at 1 HP.
EDIT: The formula has been tested with a better setup and thus has been promptly edited. Also, note that Poison Damage has multiple fractions; they are all summed before being rounded down.

Well I wasnt wrong with both ignite and poison scaling from dex. Also its not ATK I think its the formula that includes enemy def and resistance. No way did I do a 10k poison tick on platinum potum with that formula. That also means pierce stats boost poison and ignite damage.

277MATK 255DEX 1INT doing 564 Ignite ticks on greg whose hp is around 3300
I think there indeed is a function of enemy's hp that we are missing.

Sorry, but I made sure to test the ATK part, and it indeed influences Poison damage. Now, for the remaining factors, it's going to be much more difficult to test it all.

So does the max hp of the boss factor in or no?

Dex has a greater influence on the poison (purple dmg) that you see tick over. But Int and agi also influence each poison tick (purple). It also takes into account the total HP of the mob.

Also, there is a chance to deal greater or lesser poison damage (purple ticks).

I've tested it before, before and after the poison updates. Though the increases in dmg aren't linear. When the stat's get higher the amount of damage seems to increase per stat point >200.

On my 1h dagger @level 143, my poison ticks (purple dmg) were hitting 1700 on gyrlle. With full dex gear/dex avatars.
