YAY PETS! For those of you in-game wondering about the basics of taming, I've added my build below. Ill make a video about taming later. So far its pretty fun!

This build is non-dps, in order to tame the mobs that are currently available BUT leaves room for skills in the future that could help with bosses or minibosses if they should be implemented. Focusing on mixing Hunter skills with Shot skills, inflicting ailments will assist in the capture of your target pet.

I kept these skills at 5 to currently test against most tamable mobs. As the levels of mobs increase, I would raise this in the future to deal more damage. Right now, the damage infliction is too much even at level 5 to successfully capture most mobs.

**Xtals are interchangable depending on your budget/needs. Survivability can make use of Roga since I dont plan to add HP boost. Using up lots of mp to inflict ailments? Use MP xtals, as high damage for most mobs is unnecessary.

Interesting, so this is just one of many builds to make...that leave space for the taming of pets?

 

Yes this build I made specifically as a tamer, but the tamer skills can be added onto any current build ^^

Does tech effect tamer skills. I found that I can catch higher level mobs than people with no tech?

Currently I use my tech BS as a tamer...

 

Currently I don't see why that wouldn't work out since pure BS crafters have so much skill points to spare. I would modify a BS build to use tamer skills and hunter skills as a main focus, the sunrise arrow does enough damage that shot skills aren't necessary if you're not building a high lvl tamer.

As of last night I don't see a difference in the personal stat luk vs. tech but I should like to try and compare them more in depth today when I have time. If you have notes on your capture rates and levels I'd be interested in seeing them. ^^

 

I can draft someone....but I have a bit of masters stuff to do. I might not be able to work on it until next Saturday. And then I can waste some rest books.

Trial: (In my mind, I had it laid out this way)
Taming lvl 5 - Mob: Standard level 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / (Maybe not so many repeats...I have a feeling there may be no relationship, but tech is a skill change parameter...so I am assuming a bit here)
0 tech / Luck
100 tech / Luck
200 tech / Luck

Then I'd plot the timer and capture bar (qualitative = due to the bar having no measurable units). Against the level of the mobs, by tech and luck.

 

Sounds fun lol. I am excited to see your findings as I will be doing research of my own, as well into the different mobs that can and can't be tamed haha.

Does stat(dex) affect how fast the green bar thing filled up?
Or any thing that affect it?

 

Currently the timer is set at 1:30 for all mobs & it doesn't change. Seems that stats doesn't affect tamer skills but it's quite new. Lots of testing to commence. Haha.

Still seems like a good idea! Weighing on the comment from Rex, would you care to share if your bar differs from mine in any way? Since you have Vit as a main stat? I only know tamers with dex XD

 

So you need the Taming Skill to bring pets to battle?

 

As long as one of your charas has tamer skill to capture, you can summon them with any char. You will need to max their affinity and discipline prior to adding them into any party, however.
