I need to level it more though, and not many people use bg/shield so idk what I'm even doing

 

Knuck build mostly can solo well. Its main stat which is agi already gives flee. Most physical atk will miss, but magic atk can still hit u. U should have magic barrier gear. With shield, more HP and resistance buff is good too. U can reach really high atk speed which result in motion speed increase, so ur atk animation will be fast. At least need 1700 atk speed if I recall correctly to get extra motion speed. Knuck can equip dagger, arrow, shield as sub. The debuff and interrupt skills of knuck are really useful too. U need to invest 40-50 to crit since it lows accuracy, and with CR gear, it wont be a problem, and triple kick has extra crit chance than normal atk.

 

that's a good thing though, be different, right? I feel like (personally) aegis and protection could stay at 5 really instead of 10.
shield bash I would go with 10 instead of 5 ( just because I like shield bash)
Moeba (or para, that's entirely up to you but I would up either one of those two ) I would go with 10
shot mastery and and long range at 10
quick draw at 5
guardian at 5
jav at 10 and rest at 5
(but that's just my opinion seeing as you're experimenting it couldn't hurt to try. entirely up to you though.)

 

bg/shield has problems with sp, and I still need to get some other skills when I get to level 125 :/

anyway, honestly, I forget to use aegis/protection most of the time
I have shield cannon at lv10, since it has longer range than shield bash, although it does cost 2mp compared to 1mp for shield bash
I kept moeba shot at 5 because bowguns used to have nonexistent status ailment rates, but it seems to have been increased
shot mastery and long range are more for damage, and I don't deal a whole lot of damage anyway :/
the circle for guardian increases as it's leveled up, but idk if it's actually helpful in effect or not ._.

also, why javelin at lv10? idk what it even does because I never use it

Personally I never found guardian all that helpful though I'm sure it is but it was never a necessity for me.
Javelin was something that I found decent for DPS ( also has a chance to inflict a status ailment, with the status ailment depend on that actual element itself) but that was just me ahah No problem at all I mean it probably was helpful but that was just my little insight into it.

 

eh... I'm still not entirely sure what guardian even does, although the aggro part reportedly doesn't work the way the description would imply it does
isn't javelin damage based on matk? although it'd still help with proration regardless

 

Apparently it's "supposed" to create an area that "greatly reduces" damage taken and increases aggro, though I feel like the damage that's reduced is minimal
I'm fairly certain Jav is, ( though don't quote me on that because I could be wrong about that)

 

Never keep protection and aegis at 5 .-.
Why would you do that either when it could reduce tapir's shots from 1500 to below 1k. Or reduce empress laser from 3k to below 2k
Why would you keep javelin at 10 ??

Also mind you a 1h shield has extremely good dps if built right much higher than shield mage or bg shield. They are not always spammers they are proraters and also much better at soloing than shield mage for bosses that move constantly.

Like I said it was just personal experience, I kept it at those because it was what worked for me. obviously though I imagine alot don't have it that way but it was just my opinion.

Sorry to break it for you but guardian is a SUPPORT skill. It does NOT reduce your dmg, it only reduces the party member's dmg and also gives them aggro-80%(based on the refine of your shield) and ampr+25. For you it only gives a guard rate boost and atk reduction whenever a party member steps into the aura.

What you can use tho is the knight skill p def, it reduces dmg taken to 0 when used with correct timing and heals 10%maxHP at lvl10.

Arrows lvl10 has much more damage than javelin only thing is javelin is insta cast while arrows isnt.

The skills allowed me as a shield mage to tank empress event ^^ also the negative it gives is much worse at lvl5 then at lvl10 better not use them any time then lol

 

sorry to break it back to you but I never said it reduced YOUR damage taken, I simply said it reduces damage taken, so kindly roll that attitude up along with the red carpet you seem to be walking on ( or atleast that's the vibe i'm getting, sorry if i'm misreading that) besides, it's experimenting, doesn't have the be the exact same as everyone elses, like I said be different.

You did say its dmg reduction is minimal which means you tested it for yourself only not for party, for party it is 47% reduction for a +C refine shield which is nowhere minimal so of course I will assume you meant it for yourself.
If you think I am showing attitude you havent seen anything yet lol sorry either ways if you dont like the way I talk, I try to be calm and collective while explaining stuff but sometimes it does get displayed the wrong way

 

Correct, I did say the dmg reduction to me I feel is minimal (in and out of a party), obviously to you it is not and that's fine. key word being you Assumed. other people are allowed to have opinions

If this isn't attitude then i'd love to see what is it's cool though it happens man 'm not gunna argue over anything i'm just simply stating my opinions regardless of whether or not you believe they are right. just expressing thoughts and opinions

May 16 Reset Mage to Sword Fu (main sword fu) use it till june16 and hiatus get bored
july 16 play again All snniversary months with DW, Reset Sword Fu -> 2h. after annive hiatus
play again at october-november with main DW and reset 2h to Gun Fu
Play again May 16 with DW (reset gun fu to archer, reset again to halberd)

WHATEVER, DW FITS ME THE BEST X.x, plan to reset my halberd again LOL, Halberd is fun but it pretty much do the same AS DW a close range physical...]

You need to try every class possible to find your playstyle.

back to bow maybe.... to use it against Nmare-Ulti bosses or super event boss like Empress...
with DW and Halberd, i can't even farm empress x.x
