    C.horn is mathematically superior.
Stability plays a big part here , there are 2 instances where monocle would deal bigger dmg meanwhile there are 4 instances where monocle would deal lesser dmg than c.horn , so by simply looking at it there's a 33% chance of dealing bigger dmg meanwhile 66% of dealing lesser dmg than c.horn if you're using monocle.

How does Stability effect damage since you've already explained how all of Monocle's stats effect damage in Chika's thread Egg?

Chika asked comparision between hood and monocle so he explained the best between those two. You asked for monocle and curled horns so he will compare both of them.
If you consider long fight curled horns npc is still the best add gear for mage as it gives stable storm ticks even though the total matk may be a bit lower.
Precaria when he was active and playing proved it too http://toramonline.com/index.php?threads/bandage-eyepatch-vs-curled-horn.16010/page-2#post-207978 he compared curled horns with bandage eyepatch tho we can replace it with monocle as they have almost same offensive stats.
But still if you want a bit tankier mage you can go for monocle as the resistance is invaluable.

Basically if you have a higher stability , that means there are less number of jumps on your damages.

As for example monocle mostly has a magic stab of 80% ,meanwhile using curled horn would make your stab 84%. Meaning Monocle's 80% stab gives you 21 different dmg , meanwhile curled horn would only give you 17 different number of jumps, and because of this , using curled horn gives you a much more 'consistent' amount of dmg as compare to monocle.

Even monocle is better than darkhood at this cap, and curled horn is better than monocle. Which means darkhood is the worst out of the three dps wise.

Thanks for the replies and other thread discussion link. Personally I'd prefer the tankier build with higher survival rate that can do more things effectively but know someone else who wants to go for a pure damage build with nothing accounted for other than raw damage in the build

You can even try white silver necklace npc version i use it on my support dps mage (200mp 150cspd 10% mag resist) yeah it doesnt have any offensive stat but its best for utility and survival.

dark hood has -10% aggro which is very important to arrow users ;)
so it's not always the "worst of the three" :p
"DPS mage" is a very vague class description and can apply to many different mage variants which all have different equipment priorities.

"Worst dps-wise out of the three"
Read properly first also ribbon headband which has -20aggro is waaay better than darkhood and it has int+6% which gives bigger matk than +4%matk of c.horn and gives +5%stability too.

    curled horns better

dark hood -10% aggro = on an arrow combo 1500 aggro u get around ~150 discounted so thats 1350?
meh just a trap stat you don't want to invest on... there are a lot of gear giving more -% aggro thats worth it

monocle also looks good at first but it sucks

matk 3% int 3% ew cmon int% scales even lower now, now that matk% gets its components on stave base atk and dex too
cspd 12% is like meh ~50 cspd id rather trade any % stability for that low of a stat and also magic res? nah man u already have high innate mdef as an INT based char and you could always go aegis/protection for any resistance issues
