I'm not sure if anyone has answered this yet I've been away for a while, but is it possible to do a build around knuckles as the starting weapon but focusing on dagger skills for primary attacks??? I wish there was a way to use dagger as my main weapon so I want to get as close as possible to it. I figured knuckles would be good since they both use agi for damg right???

Knuckles rely mainly on Agi (or Int, but that is relatively inapplicable here).

Daggers have 4 options for dealing damage:
Spike Darts (Which relies on Dex)
Poison Dagger (Which relies on Int for damage, and Dex for poison)
Gattling Knife (Which relies on either Dex, Str, or Agi)
Hidden Arm (Which relies on Atk, but not Critical Damage)
If you want to use Knuckle and Dagger, your only option is basically Gattling Knife and/or Hidden Arm.
The weapon that covers all of the bases for a Dagger "only" build would have to be Bow gun or 1h Sword (Which both relies on Dex).

Hidden Arm adds ~50% more damage (non-critical) to all of your auto attacks (if you learned Intensive Knife and Mail Breaker as well). Possibly works well with Aggravate and Strong Chase Attack.

Gattling Knife is basically the strongest skill in the Dagger skill tree, but it has the flaw of being slow as molasses.
You have 3 solutions for that:

Use the "Swift" combo tag on Dagger, to make it faster, but if you are using a "Save" tag as well, make sure that Gattling Knife is 4 skills away from it to remove the penalty. (i.e. Spike Darts > War Cry (Save) > Throwing Knife (Swift) > Poison Dagger (Cons) > Quick Aura (Swift) > Gattling Knife (Swift))

Have a party in which you are not the target of the boss. Either have a good tank, or learn the skill Sneak Attack. (i.e. Spike Darts > Sneak Attack (Save) > Gattling Knife (Smite) > Throwing Knife (Swift))

The blade skill tree, has the skill Trigger Slash, which makes the next skill faster. (i.e. Spike Darts > Trigger Slash (Save) > Gattling Knife (Smite) > Throwing Knife (Swift)
Those combos above assume you want to be as Dagger "only" as possible, and therefore are not the best combo in the world, but just to give you an idea of what you should try to do/expect if you want to use Dagger "only".
Now, if you want to be more open minded (again for knuckle and dagger), you can try this:
Smash > Sneak Attack (Save) > War Cry (Cons) > Throwing Knife (Swift) > Impact (Swift) > Gattling Knife (Swift)
    costs 1 mp
    -or-
Smash > Sneak Attack (Save) > Throwing Knife (Swift) > Triple Kicks (Smite) > Impact (Cons) > Gattling Knife (Swift)
    costs 2 mp

What skill tree is sneak attack from??? Those sound like good ideas so i'll try them out. I like to play solo/with pets since I don't play often enough for guilds to keep me around. So if I can't make a solo dagger build work I'll continue leveling my dw since it's 62 now.

Sneak Attack is in the Shot Skill tree [3rd tier].

Ok, i'm gonna try making a build then although it may take a while. The 1mp combo looks interesting so i'll work on that first.

Hermit asked for dagger only. I did warn that there was only so much you can do with only dagger skills.

Honestly, dagger works best with 1h, halberd, bowgun, or staff.

    1h has trigger slash
Halberd needs a darn status ailment
Bowgun and staff both have the Atk to use dagger skills well

you could do 1h sword + dagger and equip a small looking sword like Gladius.
then you can dress up with add gears like Knife Belt and Knapsack, so you look like a rogue with lots of knives in your pockets ;)

also, a light armored 1h build would use str, dex and agi, which all boost the power of gattling knife.
eventually this might become your strongest skill...

The main purpose of the dagger skills in my opinion is for them to be used as combo starters, fillers, and finishers; like a utility skill tree. You could probably take advantage of the fact that poison from poison dagger does more damage now and add it to the end of a combo to deal extra damage (example: Smash> Shell Break (save)> T.Kick (smite)> Poison Dagger (consecutive). I've seen a lot of full INT, then DEX mages using Poison Dagger to boost their dps a bit, so if you made a full AGI, then DEX brawler you could do a decent amount of damage with it. I've also heard from some people that poison is no longer based on DEX, so you might be able to make a full AGI, then STR brawler.

Hidden arm also works pretty well with brawlers. If you get Aggravate, Hidden Arm, Intensive Knife, and Amazing throw, you should be able to get the breaker rank 100% of the time.

So basically, you want your sub weapon as your main damager. You're giving up a lot of bonuses from your knux. ^_^

Yeah, it would be a lot better to use the martial skills for dps, but I also sorta thought that they could do well in conjunction, like with Poison Dagger. Throwing Knife could also be of use since you could do this: (Smash> Shell Break (save)> Throwing Knife (swift)> T.Kick (smite)> Poison Dagger (consecutive). That way T.Kick wouldn't suffer damage loss as much, your combo wouldn't be more expensive, and not too significantly slower.

I think that the trouble of knuckles is, that they have no real way to prorate outside of Impact.
The swords have tempest, and can use Trigger > Javelin.
The bow[gun]s have Smoke Dust, which lets them afford to Swift in any magic skills they want.
    The Halberds have punish ray.
    The Duals have spinning slash.
And the Staffs / Mds can easily afford to throw in a couple points into Smoke Dust, or Shield Cannon, etc.

Knuckles well and truly have it rough, and adding the dagger sub gives knuckles nothing but 4 more physical skills. Knuckle + Arrows at least have smoke dust to mess around with, and Knuckle + Md is a whole different build.

Most builds use Impact anyways, so it's not as big of a deal, but it would still be nice if we could have a magic proration skill. Hopefully the 150 cap will give us one.

Sonic Wave is a better filler, but Throwing Knife would be good for sensitive bosses. Poison Knife would still be a good ender though.
