knuckle/dagger help!

so i post a lot but what kind of dagger would you guys recommend? i use a kukri as of right now cause i’m beginning to like additional melee, but i don’t absolutely have to use it because my ava stats give me enough. i’m also trying to find a way of how to bring my atk up more– it’s at 1439 right now and i think that’s good but i really want to become a top brawler! it’s such a fun class and it doesn’t get enough attention on its own! (hitting just 20k-130k with a special is low for lv150 )
i have enough dodge i believe, if there’s a way to get a higher amount please tell me!
as of right now i have fc14 armor, speed talisman IV (i know i know), mad palms +c w/ tyrant machina, tyrant mask and the kukri i mentioned before. i just don’t know why my damage is considerably low though? maybe you guys would know

 

Use Lil Empress Dagger, except for water element bosses. Subweapon like dagger is flexible, change them to suit the foes you're going to face.

Also get player crafted AnnivVII knux to match your fc armor, or you can get master tonfa knux from amoeba machina mini boss for that undeniable dps brawler.

The rat knife is good, and the heavy knife is good if you don't want to use the Lil Empress dagger on water bosses.

Also, if you're not using any of the dagger skills an arrow or a shield could be nice. The shield is probably the best one because you can equip a Vulcan shield for +12 crit, +250 ASPD, extra resistance if you refine it, and the ability to use perfect defense if you want to get it. The problem with equipping a shield though would be that you need shield mastery to get your ASPD back.

 

My opinions, and I tell this to everyone trying to be a knuck.

1. Weapon priority -> For best balance between damage output and stat allocation -> I highly recommend a 7atk 3cd% 16CD 16 CR, At least to PLUS B
Knuckles get all damage from Gear and weapon refine. For Xta on weapon -> Pillar golem for the cheap. You'll want a large mana pool to blast out fast combos and better ampr. I highly suggest capping out your mana.

If you can though, Farm a Master's Tonfa and Pair it with an MD.

2. Sub priority -> Daggers are alright with their stats. I prefer MD the most because it completely takes AMPR out of the equation, and can deal huge damage if you're paired with an MD.

Shield are my next recommendation -> Vulcan shield is the best and shield mastery stargems are relatively inexpensive.
Arrows come after that -> Arm break can give you a nice save tag and keep you at long range. If you have perfect crit, you can do swifted fillers to smited 1mp combos.
Daggers are my least favorite, their skills are weak. I have one just because.


3. Armor priority -> I recommend getting Agi Crit Armor -> 7% Agi, 2% CD (or 16% ASPD if you want more motion speed), 16 CR 16 CD
Top it off with an Ifrid, you should now be at 900 mp

4. Ninja Hat (30%) gives the most damage to knuck other than oni afro but that's an event item. Top it off with a Gespent 2
If you're using Tonfa, you must use Shaved Hat with Gesp2. Now you're at 1100MP

5. Machina Ring -> Throw in a don yeti. We get a lot of attack speed. 100 ATK is over 8% of your damage, a worthy sacrifice. Bexiz is great for damage and crit for tonfa. Otherwise toss in a tapir for cheap ampr or deniala. You should now be at 1400 MP from gear alone.

Stats priority
Full AGI (This is your source of base damage.
Fill out crit until perfect (Unless you're using tonfa then don't put any to this)
Spread out the rest to Vit and Str. Dex is a terrible tradeoff.


IF you're using tonfa, I suggest no crit and spread the rest to vit and str once again.


Skill priority ->
Knucks have a bad time getting base damage and AMPR.

Base Damage can be solved with Battle Skills (80 damage given at level 165)
War cry (Quick save tag)
or Kairiki (Not recommended unless you watn to burn through EB or have recovery on hand, also can buff decoy)

Ampr can be solved with either going MD knuck and using Maximizer and Resonance, or Decoy Shot.
But with the highly mobile bosses these days, Decoy shot is still not super unreliable as it need to be constnatly next to the boss.
Chakra needs to be reworked. It is not good in combos up close. I highly recommend using it only if you plan to be a long range knucker.

Try to get out of the habit of using 1mp Combos. They tend to ruin proration and your damage and often lead to death. Rely on higher MP costing burst combos for nice burst damages and quicker mobility.

 

hey thanks! do you think it’s possible to get any of those things with a budget of under 10m?
plus, what do you not recommend about dex? i don’t remember what got me started putting stats into that but i think i thought my hit rate was really bad. what’s a amount of hitrate so that i don’t need to worry about dex?
-master’s tonfa is super iffy with me. it’s got the soaring atk but no critical messes with me: that’s the highlight of triple kick!! i can’t do that! i know i can’t ask for help and kinda veer off of it hah. but i know MD knuckles and arrow knuckles/ shield knuckles are really strong and i want to find out if there’s a way to stay strong with daggers.
btw, why does everyone exclude aggravate completely? it’s not a bad skill, i know it doesn’t go anywhere to ampr but it’s some good damage. it brings my normal attacks to about 1.5k in total i think, since our attacks are in bursts by a single punch counting as one amount. i have 1.3k mp from armor plus max mana from the survival skill tree. i gotta go now though so maybe read this? thank you so much for your input though,

i use gatling knife and spike knife whenever i fight a boss that doesn’t like ailments. i think i’ve used the rat knife but i dont remember! when i’m able to find empress parties i’ll farm her dagger. thank you!

 

My three good daggers;
1. Lil empress
2. Odd shaped knife
3. Magical dagger.

 

yes definitely.

hit rate is terrible at anything past normal. max crit means no misses.

tonfas crit negation is just on stat. not on gear or skills.

aggravate is 10sp and gives you 5 ampr and small bonus on auto atk. many other things you can do with 10sp.

as far as shopping goes, you can do a lot w 10m. depends what youre trying to do with your build though too.

 

that actually cleared up a ton of my confusion with masters tonfa, thank you!! i’ll definitely get it but i don’t know if i’ll use it as a main weapon yet cause i can’t refine myself yet ^^. i’ll reset my stats as well so that i can go to strength and vit next (mostly more of str, i’m really familiar with not having too much hp as a close combat unit.) and upgrade my armor. thanks for giving me hope

 

what stats and xtas do you have now on your gear

 

tyrant machina, mp+250 and that’s all i can remember at the moment, i’m gonna get don yeti once i get a slotted speed talisman
for stats, my knuckles are agi7% atk7% cd7%, armor is fc14 and i wear avas with stats that help out my dodge and give me +agi

 

cd 16 is what u want to do. 7%cd only gives about 10cd at worst and 14cd at best. agi atk cd16 is good damage output but youll need to use crit stats.

16 cd is 80 str points.
16 cr is about 55 stat points.
1 atk = 2 dex.
1 vit is 50 hp

do calculations based on these numbers to find balance

all assuming agi has been maxed

i’d bought a mad palms+c the other day and already switched my xtal over to it so i may at some other point! or if i can get a master’s tonfa i’ll do that too. and are there lil empress parties almost constantly? i can’t solo her and i know i don’t have the best luck so it’s only sensible for me to fight in a party
