lol, it's an old thread and I haven't updated it in a while. Yes, the tier 4 skills would work well with this build, especially garyou and kairiki since garyou isn't an unsheathe skill. I'll try to update the thread later.

After building Bow Katana and experimenting a lot, yeah, it is kinda a jack of all trades master of none build. Really shuichi is useful for when you use a close range katana kill and you are coming from long range. Garyou I would... not use, because the prerequisites for the max damage possible with it is very strict, and when you will be using more bow skills over katana, itll be almost impossible if you have a finale mage with you. Since Crossfire is uneffected by long range (from what I know) if you plan on it being the main nuking dps and you are short on SP, I would only put 5 in long range. But, with katana skills you can do more than just snipe while you are charging crossfire, which will be preety spicy with how much you can combo comboes together. Really you can do a lot with bow katana, but if you plan on taking a specific niche, youd be somewhat killing the full potential of the class.
Like what I did was a tank/dps with snipe zentei and when 150 skills came out I became a dps/breaker. You can go fancy by being all three but as you said, jack of all trades, master of none.

I agree, bow+katana is more of a long range fighter than close range specialist. Main attack is crossfire second is snipe, garyou is just an "ace in a sleeve" skill that have a long list of demands just to deal decent damage(2h passive is out of the door)
But on the flip side garyou on bowtana req is easily fulfilled since snipe have higher chance of armor break than any other options. Second problem is the 10 skill counter that can be filled by spamming snipe and pulse on the run(lots of short combos is the key of bowtana) you can practically dish out more crossfire than execute a perfect garyou(minus the 2h passive of course) your best buddy is your clone since the build is a high octane mana burner w/out the aid of maximizer for top ups. Best to chug up buttered coffie first before using this swiss army knife.

Well I built a swiss army knife and I love it. Ive been making a document filled with possible ways to use Bow Katana. Currently been balanced builds and one somewhat dps oriented.

The prerequisites are daunting, while armour breaking is easy the 10 skills isnt. And plus we dont have 2 handed to work with. If there were a practical way of doing it then yeah I would do it more often. With pulse being probably one of the only attacking katana skills, 10 uses of that would be hard to pull off on a fast run. I'm trying to see a use for close range skills but in reality for now meikyo snipe and crossfire are the best options.

It can go solo too with a magic pet and mercs for proration. Good utility for bow since it got cast time and hp heal bonus for pet support skills(i made a "Nakama" bow-tana build. Fun to use for solo runs, suck with human parties tho exept when they are leeching. Yah, i know quite a paradox)

Yeah, the class is very flexible with what it can accomplish, even good for blacksmithing and in some builds support. I wish to see more people post their Bow Katana builds, I've seen too many fu builds.

I agree, most damage heads forgot to fight with grace. They prefer to go down in the blaze of glory, ironically mostly spent being down and dead.
