Kyudo Samurai Builds (Bow + Katana) (WIP)

Looking through the versatility of Bow + Katana I went ahead and explored it, this is my first build, and I know it isnt the best. Please go ahead and tell me ways I can make it better. Thank you @Komibii for making the first Kyudo thread, I used it to develop mine, Im making this thread mainly so I can hopefully get some criticism on how to make this build more viable since I've seen many say Bow + Katana is terrible.

Nice, it looks like a solid build to me. The combos have interesting names too.

It's kyudo btw, unless that's like a stylistic choice of the build, then I understand.

so how much stability is added when you equip a katana sub to bow? (lets say the katana has 70% stability)

and for the build just focus on crit dmg and atk% and get lvl 10 meikyo. its like building a ray hb but you only swap the weapon with a bow and katana sub and it doesnt need cspd

 

The sub-weapon doesn't apply stability, kinda like knuckles in fu builds.

Yup, which means that stating will be less ACCC, but many katanas are stated with ACdmCdm%. So just put it on a bow and run out there. The Damages I put on the document are not with the equipment said at the bottom. The damages are with

I wonder why my zantei is so weak,only 1.5k dmg per hit while snipe is higer than 50k

 

Zentei will do the most damage on its final 5th hit, called the deal blow, which only triggers if you get hit while using Zentei. 1.5k per hit will give out a large 5th hit

 

so I should use zantei just before boss attack,get hit when slashing and counter?

 

Yes, the only thing bad about this is that the animation can lead you to get hit by something else, and if you miss the timing you wont get the hit. Also some attacks cant be countered.

Uwaaa i want to see the tenryuu / cf combo ;-;

 

Wanted to bring up a combo that I use frequently.

Pulse/moeba > meikyo/bullseye (save) > Zantei (cons)

The damage is terrible but it's a fast way to "queue" a Zantei from a distance. Moeba slows the enemy meaning you can use this combo from closer compared to a pulse opener. And bullseye won't reduce your defense making it less risky than meikyo (one benefit of using Meikyo in this combo is that if the enemy aggros off you, you can cancel the combo with auto attacking for high crit autos, or a ranged skill for burst damage. Essentially turning it into a 1mp Meikyo)

Using this combo you can "ZanTank" some bosses (slow and with easily dodgeable AoE attacks, iconos and ifrid for example). it's gotten to the point where I've been 1st tank more than 1st attacker.

 

Will exist once I finish all my testing for school, sorry that I havent been doing much as of late because it is almost the end of the school year for me and that happens to be when tests pile up

 

As have my build when I used zentei, it is a great skill and helps with when you get aggro from sniping a lot. With the new archer skill however, using zentei while charging a crossfire is just no. This combo however is very useful. The one I have is a more dps oriented version of it but it can still tank. I'm currently updating this with the new skills, I am testing it and it looks promising as a balanced archer set.

 

Update: I've added another build for 150 Skills, it is at the bottom of the document. Kyudo Samurai: Senso. I've also added some flare to the look of the document with the builds on it as well. >w0 I have still yet to add videos but I dont know any good recorders for it. If anyone can shoot me a response (pun intended) and I can get some videos up for yall.

 

In your opinion, which would be better for bow kata, Tenryu or Garyou if you could only invest into one? Alternatively would it be viable to drop crossfire to invest into both?

The issue is that without Tenryu, Garyou is harder to build up charges for, and with crossfire, Zantei isn't an option for both Garyou stacks or Tenryu resets (which is an issue because I've sunk a bunch of points into Zantei)

Oh and as for your recording issue. Check if your phone has a built in recorder. if it does then any apps you get from the app store might not work properly.

 

So I find them both useful, but if you had to choose one, I'd go for Tenryu over Garyou. If you have Tenryu then Garyou is all and good. Charge up crossfire, Spam some Tenryu, Break with Snipe then use Garyou burst damage. It's an amazing amount of synergy. But, for now with the fact we dont have all the skill points in the world and there are some misc stuff thats useful to have, it would be hard to flesh out the full potential of that right now. Tenryu i find better my itself because it doesnt have the strict prereq for the full damage like Garyou has.

For your issue about putting points into Zentei, you dont need to worry about that. Remember, Bow Katana is a very versitile class to work with, which is why my first build before 150 is still there. If you wish to be a tanker who can do somewhat dps and support the team, then keep Zentei. But for raw damage you'd be killing the full potential of the class and how versitile it can be. It's why I say mix and match. I still have Zentei 10 for a reason such that you wish to have something to counter when you get aggro and your party is dead. And with our Kairai Decoy MP battery, 4mp is something we can actually afford to use.
