looking for advice on dps mages.

Edit: Currently level 89(by doing unfinished main quest and nightmare crystal farming) with about 400k Spina looking to maybe buy some things that could help.

Only real combo I have is Impact > Storm(Cons) > and MP Charge(Swift)

focus on your matk then MP pool in your build
then u can start consider CSPD and survival(HP) after those 2

i suggest to max your INT til 255 before you start to choose your second stat.

armor : buy int7% matk7% armor or any matk boost armor (add roga+iconos if you have enuf spina)

try to focus on lvling til 70, dont waste sp too much, just farm bnut with magic wall
e,g : hf > wall (smite) > assault (cons)
when you hit lv 70, max your storm and impact. then use this combo below
combo : impact > storm(smite) > hf(cons)
then start to learn about your compatible sub-weapon, so u can start to create your 2nd combo

 

yeah follow the Sir egg arrow mage its for dps but gives high aggro too
he has another staff shield build try which ever suits u

get a bexiz and vulcan staff for weapon
if u can't afford custom made staff yet

A good, and simple combo you can use is: Holy Fist/Smash/Shield Bash> Impact (save)> Storm (Smite)> any skill that costs 3 or less mp (consecutive) (I would recommend using Javelin)
This combo only costs 1mp, but reduces storm's damage by 10%.

 

I currently haven't put any SP into priest, shield, or anything like those so far on my mage build

 

I'm just saying that it would be a good idea to get these skills for this combo. You could still use Wall for the first skill in the combo, but that would make it cost 2mp.

You could also use Arrows for it to cost 1mp, but it has a slower casting time.

Holy Fist. It's a skill under the priest skills tree.

 

The cheapest way to make your mage better for bosses (use MD for regular monster farming!) is to buy really cheap elemental staffs (Fire Staff or Sage Staff for fire, Wind Staff or Storm Staff for wind but not that commonly useful, Water Staff/Crystal Want/Icestaff Frigus for water, Rock Staff/Folium Staff/Scrader Mace for earth, Mace of Destruction/Devil's Staff for dark), make a level 1 blacksmith, and put their native element on them. (I think elements are level 0?) Or get the alt to level 10 quickly and add matk+1% and weakelemdmg+1% depending on the potential, but that seems like too much work for 1%. (You need 9 potential for just element, 14 for ele+1%, and 23 for ele+1% and matk+1%. You can also do element and ele+1% with hpregen-1% that requires under 9 potential, but you need a recipe for that that's cluttery for this post.) You could instead farm the NPC crafted or regular monster dropped versions of those pretty quickly. It would take more than just a couple minutes, but look into getting boss drop of Bexiz Staff, too, for neutral bosses.
