I'm thinking how to maximize luk mages aside from being nc & mats farmer. At level 117(sub char) you can have 255 luk and 50+ int. Now if having support skills you can now get the support role in boss runs. Also putting shield and martial skills up to stun bosses to break parts.

Let me know your insights with this.

My honest opinion making a luck mage into support won't work. I've seen people try. Supports are mostly needed in nightmare and ultimate modes and full luck will just die in one hit spending a good portion of the battle dead rather then helping. If you want to support you need to be able to survive and compensate the debuffs from support skills

You would need a party that can carry you during those boss runs. ^_^

I suppose this can go a few ways. And the most important part would be to play by your character's strengths, and go with that. Since your damage output will be... negligible, you dealing damage will not happen. Your average luck farmer has impact and javelin, and both can the play the role of interrupting the boss.
Possible Interrupt Combo: Holy Fist > Javelin (Save) > Impact (Cons) > ?Sneak Attack (Swift)?

Also, since a luck farmer requires quite minimal skill points, there are plenty of ways for you to expand, support-wise. Actually engaging in tanking is rather ineffectual for you, most likely, so you can make the most of sideline supporting. The strongest contenders would be War Cry, Protection / Aegis, Gloria, Sanctuary, and possibly Immunity.

Another thing you can attempt is doubling up as a pet build. Only honestly needing Pet Heal and Pet Mp Charge, this could also fit as well, and you could be a decent team member as a luck mage, using a pet as your source of damage.

Your idea of the martial skills is also viable, being a full on controller, repeatedly interrupting bosses in their tracks.

In fact, all of these ideas are so budget, might as well do them all, yeah?

Go luk farmer+refiner. Thats how I use my luk char. I hate leeching so I'm not using it on boss.

Bringing a pet would make the party carry 2 this time. ^_^

Hmm, well it has pros & cons since this is not going to be full support. It's more on how we can make it more useful since we have a lot of skill points to spare.
Glad we have same sentiments, since we got alot of skill points, we can find way to be more productive right? :) tho im not sure about the pet thing..
Yes another point, i suggest guild parties or friends.
Well not really leeching, we got a lot of sp to spare so we can find way to be more productive in a party right?

I said I hate leeching. Its for myself. My luk is my refiner too so not enough SP for boss. Well I saw lots of luk-support mage but they are not helping at all. That low damage and support skill is useless in shortrun.
The stun, I used it with my friend(only) when we were doing easy but dont want to use it on normal/hard mode.

I have just one advice- don't.
Luck mages, in all honestly, can't do anything other than refining and farming weaker mobs. how often do you see 'lfp nc tank farm'?
and it's not like luck mages actually increase your or the parties' xtal drop rate. it still remains at the same measly 0.08%.
make a proper mage. you have multiple char slots.

you won't listen, eh? ok, what about this?
You could at most use it to solo easy mode bosses, with a pet, a merc and a partner.
max out play dead.that's about all.
or if you want more utility other than farming and refining, why not just make them a tamer as well? go staff+arrow, when you tame, get sleep trap and all the relevant tamer skills.
if you take a luck mage to a proper boss run, you are nothing but a burden. expect a kick when they see you are contributing nothing much.
P.S if you were hoping to get support rank in runs, hard luck. ppl spam warcry like there's no tommorow. don't bother.

unlike skills from the support tree, warcry generates a good amount of aggro, which is a no-go for frail support characters :p

Wouldn't Sneak attack nullify the aggro gained though?

Sneak does not cancel the aggro of support skills.
Its sneak attack not sneak support. Also I dont think aggro of main support skills was nerfed they still generate same aggro as their mp cost.

Though aggro can easily be rid off by using the bloom of peace and its -100% aggro.

Yeah that’s the best build for a luk mage. Shield bash and cannon really helpful
