Magic devices have a longer attack range with aoe spells like storm, blast, and wall. For this reason, they are better for farming than a staff

Most people don't know anything about this tho, they just know it's better for some reason, cuz they heard it from someone who does know. Most snarky mage farmers don't know everything

It's because on the first cast of storm, it will pull in more enemies than when you're using a staff, that's why :/

By long range alz means that its a larger storm (larger aoe) which can suck in more mobs than a staff storm which is the main reason why md is prefered.

to add on to that sometimes depending on the mobs i farm like cursed clocks, i hv to use staff because md will drain my revs more since cursed clocks hurts but 99% of the time i'd farm with md

I guess choose your battles wisely. There are mobs you can 1hit with MD and those that can kill you over time if you fail to 1hit them (@kariin mentioned clocks as an example). You may have to increase your int a bit more so that you won't have to worry about most mobs you'd be farming, but remember to think about your LUK as well for the drops. But I digress. MD > Staff for 99% of the time just because of the wider aoe. For this, I guess also worth mentioning that you don't need to invest in op MD as you would for a staff.
