MP vs CSPD

Hi, I'm wondering which one is better, high MP or high CSPD? does high CSPD effect a lot on casting time and also effect for all skills?

 

Hello there, I'm not a "mage" per se, but I can possibly help you with your question.

Either of these can be optained via specific items in the game. Generally though, as I understand, dex increases your cast speed and can have a noticable difference in the higher brackets(500+).

Some items include Brutal Dragon 1-handed sword, which increases cspd and atkspd.
MP increasing items include a ring, Magician’s-...something, something—that gives 1000 mp, but reduces matk and atk by 25%.

As a mage, having a fast cast speed helps during boss fights IF you find yourself near or in a boss' red zone. Other than that, while farming, you could have any setup—mp or cspd—and be fine. Some peope however, are power players and don't really like the -25% Matk reduction that comes with having a large pool of mp via the item I mentioned above. There are other items without a reduction, but less mp increase.

i read from some thread .... cant remember the name ... so dont qoute me on it

i read that 100 cast speed reduce around 1second of cast time
so... i would rather go with higher mp if i can. atm , i have 700 mp which is quite good already.

 

It was Sonica's Mage Build thread. The number was actually 1000 CSPD for 1s of cast time reduction. Also Green Gelatin from Green Jellies in Zoktzda Ruins: Abnormal Space (maybe elsewhere) increases CSPD by 50% for... Not sure how long, but about a minute or maybe five or something. So... That may help.

 

I say neither because to obtain both high MP and high Cspd requires your damage to be nerfed. You could easily regenerate mp as a mage, and since I'm not a support now using libra would lower my damage in place of a second in battle.

 

Does CSPD reduce cast time of mana charge, i wonder? Because i use the libra which give 1000 CSPD but the cast time of mana charge still same when i dont have that 1000 CSPD

 

It should have decreased by 1 second

 

i dont see anything, you can try yourself, it won't decrease for charging mana

Mana charge only depends on weapon. It doesn't depend how much dex you have. Archers cast mp charge much slower then those equipping a staff

CSPD however, does work on other spells such as mini heal

hi. first of all im a mage freak . (i have deleted likely over 20 or 30 mages already trying to get the best one that fits my needs.) ok so as i have learned cspeed is ver important for a mage because lets you move around. freely and dealing more damage than any one else. so just a tip. all my mages ended up with 2 base skills lvl 10 . the chain cast spell (that boost your c. speed by alot) and mp recovery lvl 10 . if you have those 2 at lvl 10 is kinda fast kill anything. but you need to always cast first m. arrows as the chain cast speell needed. also. trying to get a c. armor boss drop version makes a very huge difference betwen blacksmith c. armor. plus a magic dagger that just add 50 cspeed. but is fair enough. you wil feel a big difference if you get those items with cspeed.

 

This a mage build that I've had fun using for so far:
Pure int

Libra
Magic Dagger
Hunter's Garb(light)
Scholar's Glasses
Sofya Talisman

Throw Dagger lvl 10 - 0 mp cost
Spike Dart lvl 10 > Magic Arrows lvl 10 (Consecutive) > Poison Knife lvl 10 (Consecutive) - 100 mp cost
Mana Charge lvl 10 - 3 seconds to charge (since I'm using staff weapon) - 0 mp cost

This build was just for fun.

 

Wait ,
So here is my problem,
I am a shielded knight who wants to add AMPR, and the xtal i choose is Moonlight Potum which gives +3 ampr but -90cspd.

Does it worth it to have that xtal? Help pls thanks.....

 

cast speed is only important for magic and archery skills. if you have neither of them, it's perfectly fine.
if you do, then you better have some good gear to raise cast speed ...
