Well, then it's a good thing I was referring to Sarah's comment in which she clearly states that you should never use str as a mage as it does absolutely nothing and is utterly useless. It's why I quoted her instead of the TC in the first place. Anyways, I guess if I ever do decide to build a Staff-Fu, it'll have to be int, because str is completely useless.

Yes, it's sarcasm. I'm not being serious. Of course I wouldn't use str on an actual mage. It's just that they way Sarah worded her statement wasn't right, or clear rather. That's all it is.

If you actually read what I said below "P.S.", then you would actually see the point I was trying to make.

 

You said her statement wasn't right or clear. That's why I said She's not in fault. Why? Coz the topic is about shield-mage there is no need to her to state if its for shield-mage.

 

"shield mage" is a vague description, it does not specify how that character would fight in battle.
there are many possible builds that can be considered a "shield mage" because they have a staff and a shield.
in the first post, it was asked for str to use strong attacks.
then it was said that str does nothing and is useless, so i pointed out how it can be used.
Holy Fist is a priest skill and Guard Strike is a counter attack when Guarding, both importat for a Cleric.

i see you presenting your version of "shield mage" as the one and only option for mages in every class discussion.
so i just spread some alternatives.

 

Shield + mage is not a vague description , it's literally what the name implies , a mage that uses shield, how is that hard to understand?
And like i said , I'm not saying those skills are bad on itself , but the way you imply it is that "it is ok to invest str for these 2 skills" which is a very bad and idiotic investment of stat, especially if it came from a elite member like you , people would get fooled to believing that it is ok to do so.
That is the point i'm trying to say.

back on the topic:
depending on where you draw your inspiration from, "Clerics" can wield books or hammers as weapon.
the typical physically frail magician aligns with egg's build.
in that case you can stay at long range and cast spells.
but if you want to use field spells like Sanctuary and Guardian, you have to move to close range, so the hammer swinging cleric type might be better suited.
with STR instead of VIT you can make better use of normal attacks, unlock the true pontential of Holy Fist and counter-attack with Guard Strike.
you can still get good defenses and HP with the passive shield skills.

choose what you want to be, almost every game character can be re-created somehow if you know what to do =(^.^)=

 

My build isn't only arrow mage , I do have a shield + mage build and it is not physically frail. It soloed potum raid on hard mod afterall.
But this is already an old thread and i doubt he would still come back to check it out.
