First of all, you need to train your pet to have skills. Pet skills cannot be gained by the pet alone. If i am right, you just trained the pet's stats. Since by default, pet that have been trained with a skill will use that skill even at level 1(or as long as it have mp to do so) if you did not do any skill training on your pet it will mostly just do auto attacks forever. Better scrap that pet and start on a new one.

maybe the pet stat were not attributed,
which you have to do after training
(and after skills too, for better choices ;P

You could try getting a new pet & fusion it with the old pet & retrain it for skills & stats if you want to keep the same pet.

Indeed, specially if it is a rare seasonal pet like potumkin or santapotums it is still "salvagable" but it is kinda hard if you don't know what you are doing.
