Player Synthesis Guide (v2.1)

    PLAYER SYNTHESIS GUIDE INTRO
    I'm sure most of you avid alchemists have been waiting for the synth function to be released.. it has now been released as of 8 Oct 2015!

    As of the recent update, players can synth/dye your own gear.
    the syn works exactly the same as the NPC synth, except that its FREE.
    I'm pretty happy to have this syn feature since I don't need to spend Spina and the fact that I can check out the customization possibilities without running back to sofya!

    SUCCESS RATES
    At skill lvl 10, the success rate of syth is 100% (as usual no spina involved)
    EDIT: I was too excited when I saw the new skill and added all 10 skill points, so I can't tell you if having less points will lower the success of synth
    EDIT2: i built another character to test if skill level affects the success rates. YES it does. also confirmed by tekuuei.
    0 TEC, 0 Proficiency, 1 unlock:
    Character level 1 | all stats at 1 | no personal stat (ty tekuuei)
    Skill level 1 success rate 62%
    Skill level 2 success rate 72%
    Skill level 3 success rate 82%
    Skill level 4 success rate 92%
    Skill level 5-10 success rate 100%

    FEATURE CONFIRMATION UNLOCK
    'Feature Confirmation' refers to the stat/appearance/dye you can select.
    'Unlock' here means the number of features you can unlock. i.e. more prof, more unlocks
    Locks become available with an increase in proficiency level. Your Difficulty only dictates what you can craft and your tech increases your Difficulty. (@Cryous)
    however, if you are a low level alchemist, you can only decide on 1 feature (i.e. stat, appearance, or dye)

    observe the SS that currently i can only place 1/1 features on the customization
    EDIT: some players have mentioned that it is possible to confirm 2 features (ty @Sokarotu). i will work on my alchemist and see if i can find the correlation between additional features with char level/prof level/tech level etc.

    EDIT2: I have tested having an alchemist under char level 50 with 50 alchemist prof -> it unlocked 2 features/options for customization (2/2). This means that char level does not affect the no of unlocks. reaching Alchemy Prof 50 will unlock the second feature confirmation

    FINDINGS
    so far with inputs from Samm, Kimesato, Cryous, Norcelia, Calous, zeves and JDX, it is confirmed that:
    -Character level does not affect no of unlock (@Samm)
    -(14oct2015) skill level affects success rates of syn. lower skill level, lower success (possibly new implementation, ty @tekuuei)
    -(17oct2015) tech affects success rates of syn (ty @WindSlash, @haghia shovya)
    -2nd syn unlock reported at alchemist proficiency 50 (as at 11 Oct 2015 12.2pm GMT, @Samm @Cryous, @Kimesato, @Norcelia, @Calous, @zeves, @J.D.X.)
    -3rd syn CONFIRMED to unlock at alchemist proficiency 100
    - @Kimesato proven this by leveling prof to 75, still at 2 unlocks,
    - @Jay L proven this by leveling to alchemist proficiency 100, 3 unlocks (see http://toramonline.com/index.php?threads/3-lock-synthesis-guide.6415/)

    METHOD FOR OPTIMISING 2 FEATURE UNLOCKS
    One Color Dyeing
    (App+Stats+1 Color) by @Samm

    Using 2 features/options, it is possible to syn stat + appearance + 1 dye with the following steps:
    1. Syn appearance (I..e mochelo hat) + dye (white) = (1st item set)
    2. Syn appearance (I. E. Mochelo hat; must be same appearance as set 1) + stat (I. E. FW cape slot stats) = (2nd item set)
    3. Combine (item set 1) + (item set 2) = mochelo hat appearance + white + FW cape slot stat

    Items you will need:
    1) mats for 2 sets of appearance equipment
    2) 1 Dye
    3) 1 "stat" equipment

    EDIT: the idea here is to use your two confirmed options effectively:
    1st set to confirm dye on the set appearance,
    2nd set to confirm the stat with your set appearance
    The method works 100% (See SS: FW cape slot stats + mochelo hat appearance + white dye A)
    this way with the appearance being the same on both sets, you can merge the 2 sets into 1, allowing you to make appearance 'confirmed' since its the same appearance on BOTH sets. this method allows you to 'confirm 3 options, by making one variable (the appearance) into a constant (sorry alot of science experiment jargon... i was a psychology student lolz)

    you can use the same method to dye 2 parts (see SS dawn hat + white A + Baby Blue B)
    Items you will need:
    1) mats for 2 sets of appearance equipment
    2) 1st Dye (i.e. dye A)
    3) 2nd Dye (i.e. dye B)

    Two Colors Dyeing (App+Stats+2 Colors) by @ray.
    For two colors dyeing, it's better to leave stats to be the last to put in your armor, so u won't waste too many dyes in the process.

    What you have:
    A. Santa Suit A (app and dye A)
    B. Santa Suit B (app and dye B, you know already how to make them)
    C. Santa Suit C (app and stats)
    D. Santa Suit D (app and another dye B)

    What u need to do is to choose whether you want to prepare more dye A or dye B, it's really up to you, but in this guide I'll prepare more dye B to use. You wouldn't want to use more Black A than Dark Gray B right? :eek:

    First:

    Santa Suit A (lock dye A) + Santa Suit B (lock dye B) = Santa Suit AB (app and AB dyes)

    Second:

    Santa Suit C (lock stats) + Santa Suit D (lock dye B) = Santa Suit CD (app, stats, and dye B)

    and, finally:

    Santa Suit AB (lock dye A) + Santa Suit CD (lock stats) = Ultra Santa Suit (app, stats, and AB dyes)

    So this process took 4 Santa Suits, 1 A dye, 2 B dyes.

    This method can be used for 3 dyes too, but you get the gist already.
    Note this: It might take a lot of time for farming the dyes and the apps, but hey, better than to use 1 million spina for dyeing right? :rolleyes:

    Thanks for the tag @Norcelia, this is very useful! Generally it sums up the dye processes for 1 dye to 3 dye. The picture explains it all, so analyse it a little and you'd get the picture! More dyes means more items/materials! All the best!

    Mats needed (do note that it can be in any configuration, as long as the amount of dye/gear is correct :
    3x item1. I. E. 3x dye1
    2x item2. I. E. 2x dye2
    1x item3. I. E. 1x dye3
    1x item4. I. E. 1x app
    1x item5. I. E. 1x stat

    SCAM PREVENTION
    Do note that if you are NOT an alchemist and want to pay for syn services from another player, you can only syn add gear and player made gear (make sure they charge you less than NPC, else you might as well go NPC to do it). If you need to syn boss drop gear, you will need to go npc syn if you are NOT an alchemist and pay the usual spina (depending on how many options).
    i recommend only getting someone you know to syn your stuff, the last thing you want is to lose your equipments to some selfish @#$% scammer.

    That would be awesome! But I was just playing with it a while ago and it only limited me to 1/1 features..
    What level are those players at? Have they unlocked another skill?

    It's very likely linked to your alchemy proficiency. I'm betting that with every certain number of proficiency levels, you get another confirmed lock. I'm at 39 alchemy and I can only lock one, my Guildie is at 59 and she can lock two. My guess(and this is just speculation) is that you get a lock every 20 proficiency levels. I'm gonna try and hit 40 to test it out. I've asked her to try and get to 60 to see if it changes.

    im currently at lvl 48 with 130 tech, will try to level some more and try getting all those stats on tec. i really wanna customise my gear the way i want it.. the npc charges too much.

    could also be because my profiency is low, im yet to work on my prof levels.
    ima try working on that and update you guys again

    Just remade my Tech/Alchemy .... good bye lvl 63 prof on smithing and lvl 72 on alchemy.... But I was able to lock 2 spots so.... It might be not be true about the 20 levels thing....

    Maybe the threshold is higher? All I know is that it's definitely above 39 but below 59. If I'm able to lock two dyes at prof level 40 then it's possibly every 40 levels. If it doesn't happen at 40, maybe at 50. I'll let you know what I find out about prof level 40. I can only make assumptions based on the current info I have.

    hmm we may be able to come to a conclusion or hypothesis with the info from both of you.

    kime can you list the info about your char?
    cryous, can you list the info about your friend's char and your current char?
    possible variables:
    char level
    tech points
    profieciency for alchemist

    hopefully we will be able to find out what causes it to work.

    Guildie is level 65, Synthesis Proficiency 59, full tech(but I believe this ties in with prof level) - 2 Lock Options
    My chemmy is 58, Synthesis Proficiency 39, 4 tech - 1 Lock Option
