    Heavy remodel for shield (or maybe any type of) mage for added def and resistance(?)

    Just that mages don't benefit from it as much as they do from heavy remodel.

    Does that also implies that light remodel is a complete loss

    No its just that mages usually fight from a range which gives it a less need for evasion and more for guard. Also since heavy remod emphasizes on guard rate and shields provide additional guard chance and guard power. Its more preferable for a shield mage imo

    Heavy armor coz you will gain extra 5% reduction towards magic attacks by increased mdef.
    2s mage armor im7 is the cheapest and the most long lasting 2s armor so even if you are using adv garb with low def changing your armor to heavy will compensate for the low def of adv garb.
    According to my tests approx 200-220def is the limit of the stats efficiency which you wont be able to reach with a light armor.

    You can take light armor but only if you prefer soloing in party shield mage will almost always have lower aggro so boss wont be attacking you much at all :) all the other long range boss that target lowest aggro player(td ball) attacks are magic (unevadeable/undodgeable) which you can survive better with heavy armor and the extra reduction even if its 5% it can be a life or death situation

    Oops I mean the players thats farthest away not the one with lowest aggro :oops:
    But yeah you get my points its either the mage or the sniper, in fact the snipers got it worse as having low mdef already and if they are using ms xtas as well they will at least take 25% more damage than the mage from that ball.

    So the balls hit snipers harder than mages^-^ that explains why that sniper guy kept dying while I survived. Thanks for the info I'm sure others lurking find it useful too. XD

    light armor reduces guard rate, you would never use it together with a shield :p

    if it were a diff build such as sword or halberd i'd go with light but as for mage i go for heavy with shield... i know making arm heavy decreases aspd and probably cspd too? idk bout cspd but yeah... go for heavy

    Doesnt affect cspd only aspd which is not necessary for mages. If it affected cspd I would never go for heavy . _.

    light armor:
    aspd and dodge increase
    def and mdef decrease
    +10% evasion
    -10% guard rate

    heavy armor:
    def and mdef increase
    aspd and dodge decrease
    +10% guard rate (25% guard power if not wearing a shield)
    -10% evasion rate
