A bit off-topic but since you guys are here.. What about dex? I mean can this build get around 1.7k cspd from equips and xtals alone? I read in a thread that md mages can go up to 1900+ cspd. Unfortunately i couldn't find a thread that shows how much cspd dex adds per point. It might mean sacrificing int but if you're spamming a 2-smite 1mp combo... Maybe it'd be enough that only 1 tick of storm would miss? What's the max cspd staff mages can do right now?

I'm just thinking out loud. Lol.

yep that's what im thinking, magic arrow irself has a high cast time

yep but.... when my cousin tried it, the storm last almost until the last 2 ticks of storm, the good thing is LANCE DAMAGE DELAYED until we cast storm! ><)/ so the timing was perfect

They need to return and strengthen Magic Lance damage... why should they debuff it -.-"

I can't answer it.. Since i'm not the one who test this build and i dropped my mages a long time ago TT
But the time taken is not really a problem
Some people use Impact -> Storm Smith -> Holy Fist consec, then MP Charge waiting the storm to end... in this build, we're not going to wait the storm to end by mp charge, instead we're spamming combos

 

The Lance timing will work on bosses like Yelb as is. But if you try it on bosses like Roga where it has an AI to 'get out of Storm', you will see what I mean. It's hard to get the last 2 hits to connect. But that's just the perfectionist within me being a pain in the S, this is a solid build overall.

As for Cspd, magic swordsmen garb + coat give 500? Sunlight adds 300. Philosopher ring adds a tiny amount. I don't know what else adds Capd for mage. 1 DEX gives 2.94 Cspd per JP, so @Erased's suggestion could be workable. But full INT will basically get the job done, if you are not picky like me

If you would consider MD, the MD dropped by Empress adds another 500, but you sacrifice a little loss in damage.

 

Yeah. other mage builds (like mine) we use some secs to mp charge. It"s fine before since roga and other boses doesn't take too long to kill. But with the coming of the difficulty setting bosses take longer to fall. Let's say you mp charge 3x in a run in ultimate or nightmare then that's about 7-9 secs of wasted time. But with the ability to spam your combo then the idle time disappears (since you'll be constantly doing dmg). Over time that can add up. I'm in over my head but this build is intriguing. I need to buy an oblivion. :/

Omg i think i just opened Pandora's box.

 

"Stop" doesn't stop Roga. She keeps moving. Tonight we did Roga with Celia and she tested it there, Roga couldn't be stopped, only the minions. Which makes me think some bosses are immune to Stop.
Best special gear for CSPD is Adroit Mage's Bangle with CSPD +100.

 

@Cella Magic Arrow with cap cspd has .80 cast time. (I believe cap cspd is 1300 coz i notice there's no changes with the cast time of magic arrow with 1500+ cspd)

Well Javelin now has no cast time so yeah :3 i think this build will be the real thing!

 

Have you tried using a bowgun and a magic device instead of staff and arrow?

 

It'll be worse.... the DPS is Staff where if we equip staff at main we'll get 4 matk per int and 1 per dex.... it's a mage not sniper

no you didn't. use slow or stop on the target or activate chain cast.
blast hits stronger than 3 storm hits, so it can kill everything that storm can't kill in 3 hits and would attack you afterwards. also you can inflict a status ailment on many targets at once. (doesn't matter if you kill them, but good against bosses with minions)

Omg, sounds like a magician spells from manhwa i ever read
Maybe for future, of course after i make chain cast to lv.10 and then magic blast will be usefull to replace javelin on my combo

 

the effect of those spells greatly depends on your weapon.
for staff users it's just single target or area, but for MD users (main and sub) it's high chance for status effect on single target or super large scale area attack.
damage-wise javelin can't beat arrows, but the proc rate is higher, blast hits twice as strong as arrows and in an area (5m staff, 7m MD).

Maybe i will erase my magic skill and re-learn it later (of course i pretend to get notebook of oblivion from daily stamp or potum dart, wish me luck )
And for 5 skill poin i wasted to max the magic blast will be add to hp boost (helping me to survive more, cuz this mage have a big aggro and it drive me insane of running away if i get the boss/miniboss attention)
