Dancer + Minstrel: A Pure Support Build

In every MMO I've played, I always use Support classes. When I started Toram, there were a lot of severe limitations that really discouraged anyone from even going to Support in the first place. But that problems presented many possibilities.

Inspired and based on Jaeyson's Cleric build, as well as the Dancer/Bard class from several videogames, mainly FE and FF.

This build is still a work in progress, and its effectiveness purely depends on player experience. I wanted to share my build for my friends, as well as other who want to experience it.

Pure Supports is a rare specie in Toram, seldom will you ever come across one in a party. It's a playstyle that isn't very newbie-friendly, but with dedication it is an enjoyable and challenging experience.

This combo is an alternative if your auras keep getting cancelled by crazy bosses who keep spamming difficult/undodgeable AoE.

Tips
A pure support playstyle depends on the following
1.) Positioning
2.) Social Awareness
3.) MP Management
4.) Timing

Positioning is integral in Pure Support Builds to maintain auras. This is entirely boss-specific, but based from my experience, as much as possible keep yourself at the sides of your party never behind them. Never let your party member cover for you, it will do more harm than good. Either you move along their direction or you take the opposite.

Attacking is not your concern, instead you need to keep an eye out for your team mates HP bar at all times. Be quick in treating ailments and healing dying/dead team mates. Your heal may not always reach them in time, but don't shy away from giving first aid/heals especially in Boss battles. When surrounded by mobs or self heal opt to use Nature's Wonder when the opportunity arises.

Auras cannot be used in combos, as such they will drain your MP. Activate auras based on priority and needs of the party. The more First Aids you give the higher the MP usage, use them as generously as you can. Heal is a good substitute, not as effective but it can reach long distances.

Finally, Timing is crucial in a pure support playstyle. The playstyle of any pure support build is dodging most of the time in order to maintain auras. Backstep is extremely useful. If auras are impossible to hold, use non-cancelable buffs/debuffs i.e. Dance/Assassin support skills. Don't rush yourself to cast every aura you have all at once, you will put yourself at a huge disadvantage especially when Boss constantly spams large scale AoE. Don't forget Elegant Poise is your ultimate life-saver when Boss goes for the 1HKO.

If warcry removes AoE fear and Evasion removes AoE slow.... I may now start investing in assassin skill tree, particularly on evasion

Btw, is Serum affects the whole party too?

I like this version of support.

I noticed you sacrificed defense (p.def) for all out buffs, very risky... but then again, wih natures wonders... HP won’t be a problem for you.

Now I’m angry at game developers on why dancer is not available on staff users.

 

wouldn't Serum (save) - Evasion (swift) be better for mp management?
Serum costs 3, Evasion costs 2. Ad Lib is 1 +song cost, right?

 

Iirc, Serum affects whole party just like Evasion, eitherway I still invest in them to reduce damage inflicted by ignite and/or poison.
As for defense, initially I was a Staff+Shield Pure Support which is awesome btw, but when there were weapon restrictions with Dancer Skills I decided to drop the shield skills. This is where the build began which focuses on dodging and evading as much as possible. Its not as sturdy as the Staff+Shield Support, but using the recommended equips can help you survive in most situations in where dodging/evading is near impossible.

Can you explain why Full INT? And not VIT / MTL, sorry I do not play the team ... And I came to the forum to learn more about a class, I loved your post

 

If you use staff. INT raises the amount of HP when you use bless

 

Thanks! The build was initially based on Jaeyson's Cleric build, Bless +Advanced Bless (INT-based)was a skill I used for supporting but had to unlearn them upon the release of Dancer and Minstrel. If you have enough SP you can invest in those two skills to maximize your supporting capabilities.
also INT helps with the Mana Recharge support skill, as well as provide a little bit to Max MP.
This build is still a WIP, but I would love to try out your suggestion and see how a Full VIT or MTL can play out. Here's hoping a free reset comes.

When you get silenced... can you still cast dancer skills?

 

You can still use all dance buffs, exccept for Nature's Wonder and Elegant Poise.

well at least there's still recovery.. it would be a shame if one got silenced on a bad time and can't use nature's wonder.

but it won't be a problem when you have VIT even just a little
