Since you said you were a beginner, I woulf suggest to not go for a DW as your starter character as it requires skills and knowledge to play this "job". But if you insist, I'll try to help as much as I can.

    • Stats
DW has a unique stat growth where you can actually choose between 3 stats, depending on your playstyle.
    a. STR : Increases both hand's atrack power, increases critical damage
    b. AGI : Increases sub hand's attack power, increases dodge rate, increases attack speed(motion speed at a certain point).
    c. DEX : Increases main hand's attack power, increases accuracy, increases stability
Most player usually go for STR+AGI because of it's high damage output, some people go for AGI+STR for motion speed. As for DEX, no one really uses it. Chose your stats wisely because stats can either make or break DW.
    • Equipments
Most, if not all DW users aim for 100% Critical Rate, this is due to critical hits will always land(can't miss, but still might be evaded). So, for the equipments, I personally cannot give any recommendation as there's really not that many good equipments at low levels. For now, just stick to the boss drops or npc crafted gears. Just keep in mind that you have to go full Critical in order to be a "good" DW.

Another thing about equipments, DW holds 2 swords, right? One on main hand, and the other on the sub hand. Fortunately, Element on sub hand works. Which mean if you have a neutral sword on main, and, let's say, water elemented sword on sub. All your attacks and skills will have a water element boost towards fire element mobs.

    • Skills
For skills, especially at low levels, definitely go for Spinning Slash and Twin Slash, they have the most damage out of all skills available for low level. You can also use skills from "Blade Skill", since you're using 1H as your weapon.
