    Giguga / メイプル,
For DPS: Two-Handed Sword is top tier along with Halberd (Dragon Tooth), Dual Wield (Shining Cross), and Katana (Zannou stacks from Tenryu Rasei use). Bows are nice but Crossfire gets easily interrupted, however, Satellite Arrow is amazing against bosses with high defense. Staves have nice damage on Finale however your damage will be outclassed by the other weapons, and you'll be using the same skill over and over again. Knuckles is beginner friendly with DPS through Goliath Punch, however it could fall short. Gatling Knife (Dagger Skill) is also available as a semi-DPS skill.
For Farming: Staves provide faster kills on higher level mobs while Magic Devices provide a much larger radius on skills. Halberd is also good for farming but requires your health to be below 55% for proper MP management.
For Tanking: One-Handed Sword is great for survivability, while Knuckles have the best ailments. If you prefer a stationary tanking style, Bowgun is the best weapon you could pick.

For bossing... What's your playstyle? Mobile or stationary? Do you like team play or solo? Are you the one to deal damage, tank or support?

Bowguns aren't very powerful in toram, they have low stability albeit high atk. Snipe is more powerful than that of bow's but the armor break rate is reduced significantly, making it not that powerful against high def bosses. Bow is a safe bet if youre going for a pure archer, it can have 100% stability, 100% snipe armor break rate(reduces enemy's def by 50%). Snipe also being a great debuff skill for party plays. For stats its mainly a combination of STR and DEX, its really fine to do str>dex, dex>str or dex=str. For skills you have 3 dps skills in snipe, crossfire and satelite arrow. Satelite arrow having a huge dps but have a demerit of a delayed attack, which makes it tricky to use for mobile enemies. Crossfire being an off hand dps skill because its a charging skill. And of course snipe for its damage and debuff. The key to Archer's damage is elemental arrows so you would want to have all the elements. Overall I archer is a great class that's easy to use. Satelite arrow beat the crap out of stationary bosses.

Well, for stationary builds, shield is the best weapon and since you like ranged weapons, you can build an 'artilliary gunner'. To make the most of this build, you are going to have to rely on pierce equipment over CDMG. This is because of the skill Fareth from the knight skill tree which boosts ASPD and Phys pierce over time until you move. This and satellite arrow which deals damage in a fixed area with a certain amount of pierce (not sure if it's still 100% with shield sub instead of arrow).

You won't be using crossfire seeing as remaining stationary whilst it is charging isn't a good idea, however, if the party has a reliable tank, you can take it to unleash 5/5 cross fire damage after bombarding the enemy with satellite arrow and snipe.

Stat focus for this build is Max DEX > 50 ~ 100 VIT > CRT OR STR. The VIT is going to be necessary for survival, you can take STR for the critical damage boost or focus on CRT to hit more reliably.

    Equipment focus
Weapon (Player Made): DEX%, CRT, ATK%, CDMG (xtal should boost Phys pierce if possible)

Armor (Player Made, Heavy): CRT, CDMG, DEX% (xtal should be Phys pierce if possible or boost to HP for more survivability)

    Additional: Bear Hat

Special: Machina Ring (Xtals are critical and pierce boosts)

    Skills that may be useful:
Shot: Snipe, Crossfire (useable if tank is reliable and no AoE spam going on), arm break (lv1 for save combo), decoy shot and fatal shot (to extend stun break part duration)

Shield: Shield Cannon, Guardian (for ampr boost mainly), Force Shield, Magical Shield

    Knight: Fareth

    Hunter: Satellite Arrow

Support: Brave Aura (Only if you aren't tanking), Heal (For when you do take excessive damage), Sanctuary (For annoying but less than 10% max HP damage)

    Survival: HP Boost, MP Boost

Playstyle: You can do damage but keep in mind against halberd, DW, katana and almost all other builds focussing on increasing critical damage, it would be lacking. You can tank but with no +agro equipment and somewhat low HP, you need to get your timings right with guard and pdef. Rarely ever would you need to move as you have a wide range so there is no risk of Fareth resetting often which means you almost always have +ASPD and Phys pierce.

Overall, it's an off-tank/support style build.

If you attempt this, good luck, just be sure to let your party know that you aren't a tank.

if there was a best of everything, it would be pointless having any other class

Best build? There is none. It completely depends on the situation.

Best class all round? There is none. No matter what build you make, there is going to be a scenario you cannot build for in entirety. Eg: Magic based build is not suited for solo bossing unless they go for burst mage style.

    Best weapon in what context?

You can make a build which makes it so that even if the bosses move around a lot, it won't affect your damage out put by being stationary, which is what I suggested above.

If you want mobility with range, your options are bowgun/dagger, Bow/Arrow, Staff and Magic Device. For damage, exclude staff and magic device.

With bowgun/dagger, you can go for shadow walk at lv205 and do extremely insane amounts of damage with shadow walk from the assassin tree, but you will need a tank pet or reliable tank in party.

Bow/Arrow is your classic ranger which can integrate easier with pets for slight support, or offense boost.

It all comes down to what you want (until they implement PvP, in which you play DW.)

    Giguga / メイプル,
Most mobile classes would have to be halberd, katana, and dual wield. These types of weapons provide a high risk, high reward playstyle. Halberd has the lowest defense due to Godspeed Wield in exchange for high speed. Katana needs proper MP management to be able to use Tenryu properly. Dual Wield is one of the expensive classes I've seen up to date.

    There's no best build.
If you want an easy mechanic character which can survive most battle, then 2h (STR>VIT) is good for you. Make sure to eat resistance and hp food for better defense.
All those build that have pure dps rely on iframe skill timing and godly dodging reflex that need time to master.
When you get better in game, you can try those pure dps build ^^.

The bowgun you choose could affect playstyle. Some NPC bowguns fit Magic Gunners, while some fit Artillery. There's also one NPC bowgun for tanking.

Use bow and bg, interchanging different weapon and sub to effectively match your foe. Best one's are those who are flexible.

Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water.

Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.

Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. ~Bruce Lee

rofl. strongly discourage stationary dps play because most bosses have balls, meteors, spikes that target random party members
but it's all up to you.
