I want to know what u guys think will be the future of the pet system in the game after mercenaries get skills.

Here are some things I want to share with u all:

    1.Max HP:
Pet- the highest HP is around 50k-60k.
Merc- highest HP ive seen is 199.9k

    2. HP recovery:
Pet- a tank pet can't recover decent HP on its own.
Merc- it has natures wonders/royal heal/heal etc.. So around 80k+ hp healed.

    3.Accompany:
pet- u can only have 1 of ur pets to accompany u.
    merc- u can accompany 2.

    4. Damage taken:
Pet-Steady pets are immune to spikes,meteors.. Can avoid most aoe.
Merc-they get 70% damage reduction when there are within 3m distance from the boss.

    5.leveling :
    pet- It never stops.
Merc-as easy as leveling a character.

    6.skills:
pet- need luck for getting the corner skills ... Need more luck to get lvl 5 skill. Lvling it to lvl 10 needs u to kill more than 10k mobs.
merc- u only need skill points.

There's lot more advantages a merc has over pets. So after the mercenary skill update will we still have any use of this pet system ?
Well atleast pets are more useful than that stupid tier 4 cat/owl. XD

It's not like you can only choose one or another.
You can deploy both , so why not?

The only pet skill that can compete with merc is the three buff skill. Clear mind is specifically better because no cast time for pet. Dmg reduction buff is also op.

The big advantage of pets is that they wont take up party slot space, unlike mercs. Tho there is penalty if there are too many pets in a party, but its not much noticeable for support pets.

I'm curious as well, how the new upcoming merc system will be handled. I wonder if we can set up a custom behavior for our mercs, that way no merc is the same for each player.

I prefer pets to a mercenary because they don't tell you that you suck or complain about helping you. They don't talk back. Pets are still very useful!!

If mercenaries could use warcry/sanctuary/guardian it would be rip pets tank, but pets still have some unique buffs, so they'll still be fine as support

Not only can pets tank they can also absorb damage, heal, revive you(hence the more practical use of pets are tanks) once down it be a waiting game for pet revival. Mercs dont have this problem tho since you can spam heal first aid to the thing. Afaik only thing that does not work on pets are heal and first aid. Other buffs works tho, dunno bout minstrel and dancer skills but aura priest and other buffs works.

minstrel and dancer skills work on both pets and mercs. Not many use it.

you're right. The pets will take more of a support role I guess. A gentle pet would be ideal for this. Just leave it in a corner of the map and it'll spam the support skills. It won't move or chase the boss. I'll try to make one XD.

Which skill is better for 2h atk merc?
    Buster blade or meteor?
Buster blade has less dmg but has better dmg/mp ratio.
Or we should stick with meteor?

Is the mercenary stats mechanics still the same? Last time I read that only atk, hp, aspd, and accuracy stat influences merc stat, so physical pierce%, srd/lrd, critical damage and critical rate are still useless for mercenary?

CSPD doesn't work also. Chakra still casts 3 seconds even with the weapon equipped, and with High Cycle buff.
