I have a lavarca at level 14 but he doesn't use any of his three skills either.

You can level up a pet by having it in your party and killing mobs as normal.

And if you had life potions you could spam them on stamina like I did and then bam you have a pet, although I still haven't figured out how to make him use any of his skills either.

 

If you read pet update info is says everyone has a wild pet in their garden so you are not alone.

You simply can not capture some mobs, it's literally impossible, it says you can't use the skill on the target

Aww. Maybe do we need to start a list of capturable pets?

What skills does your pet have my pet currently has The skill that looks like heavy smash and Encourage the atk buff and it uses its skills at random sometimes when I'm fighting a boss it doesn't use any skills at all even when I change to charge it's mp but at other times it just burst and uses both skill at the beginning or end of the battle...
I also found it used skills less frequently when it's stamina was low.

 

He hasn't used any of his skills, he has arrows, blast, and Lances lookin ones, still has yet to use anything

 

When I'm fighting boss with my pet, its Rage activates automatically. When you go to your house under pet Skills do you have it on or off? Or maybe it's toggled something different that it doesn't activate. Hmm I wonder.

Edit: I also have to use pet mp charge after it skills, so maybe it ran out of mp? Haha

 

I wish I could have 11th slot for tamer...

It's posible that the pets dont use skills simply cause they lack the mp for it...I mean have you seen some of the skills mp costs? e.e

 

or maybe they don't use it if their affinity is low...
i mean there must be some use for this stat.

 

Maybe they just lazy to use their skill? LOL... I've been wondering why mercenaries doesn't use their skill too haha.. tanker couldn't hold the aggro though haha

 

Tried to catch a hound with a 28lvl halberd who has maxed tamer skills but it said "doesnt meet condition" or something,is that a level limitation?

 

Yep level limitation, with maxed tamer skills you can only capture mobs with level 38 maximum

 

Can't catch mobs 10 lvl above you and not all mobs are pet available.
