To Solo with finale, it needs to be swift tagged and in a short combo, most popular being:
    Impact > Finale (swift)

Next, you will need a way to prorate bosses either with neutral or physical. This would mean that you need the appropriate main weapon and sub weapon.

For mages, you can use a staff or magic device, with staff magic power is increased whilst with magic device, magic range is increased. For soloing, you want high damage and high cast speed which falls more on the staff side.

Next, you need to pick a sub weapon. A choice of shield, dagger, arrow and knuckle are available to you.

Shield has the best defensive capacity for mages in addition to party support from aegis and protection. You can also tank using this build if you take guardian.

Daggers are the best for dropping ailments otherwise known as a breaker in this game. Unfortunately, all the skills suck. Throwing knife is useless and worth only for physical proration. Spike dart and poison knife are ok. Gattling knife... You only have one stat dedicated to it which is DEX. Amazing throw needs to be reworked. Evasion dagger passive is garbage, hidden arm passive is garbage, intensive knife passive is garbage, mail breaker has a low proc chance to double ampr for one attack and that's garbage considering decoy shot exists along with mages being slow attackers in general. It is nice to take dagger because none of the skills have long animation times except for gattling knife which could also work as a dps skill but it needs to be swift tagged.

Arrow is hailed as having the best combo efficiency in the game thanks to arm break and with the shot tree you get access to sneak attack which means no agro on attacks. For soloing mages, this won't provide much benefit as the boss won't be targeting you always and whilst range is nice, the damage would be low because you are not a physical dps. You do however have the benefit of multiple disabilities which seem to destroy boss resistance later in the game.

Knuckles have the best support skill in the game, chakra as well as the best close range skills in the even the boss gets too close which would be rush and shell break. As a solo mage, you won't be using chakra, it takes too long to cast and disappears in one hit whilst rush has a noticeable animation time that requires you disable the boss somehow before executing a combo including the rush skill.

For soloing mages, shield is the best sub by virtue of useful skills and added guard when rooted during finale casting. Arrow comes after once you know the proper timings to execute finale. Knuckle works but none of the bosses really need to be disabled and even if they are, they tend to get resistance afterwards. Dagger... Well... It's fast but so is arrow and arrow gives bonuses to traps from the hunter tree. Dagger might see some bonuses from the upcoming assassin tree but this remains to be seen.

    Good luck.

There's also the option of md sub for resonance. Although debatable if useful for solo since can use maximizer instead.

Another alternative is to pseudo solo with mercs/pets and use -aggro equips/sneak.

Does MTL work on magic flinch again?

We might have the manual evasion so the solo part itself won't pose much problem. Proration part is quite a problem indeed, as you usually can't rely on critical rate to guarantee hit. I'm using gsw mage and the auto attack is really fast but it misses a lot

Nope, nothing but the ether barrier skill (did I even get the name right?) Works on preventing magic flinch.

Nope and I really don't like easy mode button :s

You need CRT for either normal attacks or physical so it's unavoidable

You got it, and due to 5 sec duration, the effective combo would be

    Ether > Finale(smite/swift) > Optional closer

    Ether > Impact(cons) > Finale(smite/swift) > Optional closer

Hurts our pride to do easy, but always suggest others to do it. Lmao.

The best solo finale mage imo when it comes to soloing is having a gear that has -100% aggro and let the tank mercenary or pet do the tanking. xD I mean having merc and pets around can be considered solo right?^^/

For mage to solo, it may be hard unless you also have some VIT on your char. Otherwise, your finale mage is going to be glassy and die easily ><

    My suggestions are
    *Int-Vit stat (decent damage-high Survivability)
*main wepon:i think im7% i14 is enough, 100% less agro if u have tank merc (for spamming purpose or get sneak attack if u dont want)
*sub-wepon:shield (i always prefer zahhak shield for resistance)
*get shield/priest/support skills that boost ur def/mdef/resistance and heals you (like bless and heal) i think u can exempt the aura skills
*may go for impact>finale(swift)>holy fist(cons) for quicker casting change smite from swift if u have tank merc
*damage is not as high as other mages but its good if u want to solo, besides finale itseft have decent damage at all
*ur buff skill and heals can support ur merc on boss battle, for them to stay alive during boss fight.
*watch a mage that soloed P.ava on YT and u will understand my point

Uhm, I think cooking and potions gives enough hp so no need to put all the rest to vit
