Is there a way I could somehow make myself tougher without sacrificing too much damage? Am trying to solo bosses so I could level up but I just keep dying (even with tank mercs) QwQ
    I already tried with food…

A7%S7%CD7% 4th Anniv HB IX 446 (iirc?) ATK +B Imitator
    S7%CD7%CD19 40-ish DEF +C York
    Ghost Zipper +C Wandering Wheel
    Machina Ring York, Lalvada
am unsure if am already good enough for parties… so I never join one…

Get Ornlarf, a better add for hb and learn the desired boss pattern. I think it's definitely fine for parties as long as you don't stay dead for entire match.

practice and boss pattern predict is the only way to solo.

    1. Halberd Dive impact have a few second invincible ( as I remember is trigger when jumping up ), experience HB player will use this skill for manual dodge like meteor break, either direct cast it (4mp) or GSW>DI(save)>Finale.
    2. Dragon Tooth is a Fake Long Range Attack, you can cast from far side but you will still get damage because it's didn't provide invincible mode when jumping.
    3. Don't over dependence on WCOS especially when your MaxHP is less (8k-10k), HB got 4meter attack range and have GSW increase attack motion speed, wisely use it to manage proration and regen MP.
    4. Evasion trigger only when mob target you only, if you have tank merce or any other hold the aggro, your high evasion is useless.
    5. Don't always hunger for Damage, most of the boss will have some delay after casting skill, aim for that timing and launch for big damage.
    6. Use 1MP combo (90%-110%) to test on boss proration, if you satisfice with it launch few normal attack on it and spam big damage (150%), this can help to reduce the waste of MP.

Hope below video can help you, just focus on the timing using skill, gear/armor damage just ignore first.

There is a series video on youtube about how to solo. You my check it.

Also, imo, fighting boss solo and in a party is different. Since solo means you manage your own aggro and taking the whole hit. While in a party, you can focus more on dealing damage and focus less on aggro since usually there is a tank that will eat all the aggro up.

You just need a lot of ampr (>60), crit, decoy, dive impact, gsw and most importantly, just learn the boss partern although some don't have one like CG, seele, SDM, ...

Here are some recommended xtals for soloing:
    - Mardula, Zarth, Tapir, Ultimate Machine, Mom Fluck/Ifrid, Super Death Mushroom.

For damage xtals is up to you but high ampr is very needed btw, dont be fooled by high damage. High damage with low ampr is nothing compared to average damage but high ampr, try it and you wont regret it later, with high ampr you can spam/prorate without any mp restriction. .

And here are some advices: try to solo minibosses first and then bosses later, that's what I've done before i retired.
