These are the two hybrid builds I've finalized martial mage to.

Which of the two would you all say is specced towards decent support whilst providing essential attack dps? I'm seriously running a headache here.

With Knux/MD, the magic skills I can take would be limited to impact from the magic tree and then a full focus on wizard skills due to their 'short' cast time in combo. By short I mean that using wizard magic doesn't interrupt your combos which at close range can be deadly. With wizard and high speed combo execution, I can expect near maximum combo proration at all times but that means I'll be prone to weird proration and there is the issue in that I have no idea how to allocate between INT/AGI or how to allocate to those stats and additionally allocate to CRT and magical pierce? (If wizard skills need it, not sure) And I'd also need an MP recovery method that doesn't include decoy and MP charge. The build Shouldn't need because wizard skills don't need CSPD but needs both ATK and MATK

Staff/Knux is rather interesting in that the personal stat can swing between MTL and CRT depending on the focus but the stat allocation is INT/STR with some DEX for CSPD. Shouldn't need CRT because it'd be mainly from range and magic skills don't need CRT but therein comes a problem when the boss gets in close range and you have no CRT to land your disabilities. Whereas the opposite is that you are more prone to disability effects without MTL. The skill point requirement makes it difficult to get magic, martial, priest and wizard along with survival skills. The gear equipment is strange too because you need matk, CRT, CDMG and ATK.

So anyone have any personal opinion on the playstyles?

These concepts seem fun! But I think you’re trying to incorporate too many things in one build for it to be practical or effective. I think mailing DPS and support is great ^^ but I think splitting between physical + magical AND support is taking on too many roles which will result in a character that’s weak in all 3. I think maybe focusing on JUST physical DPS or JUST magical DPS + support with some opposing skills to manage proration would be much more effective but that’s just my opinion/advice. And I don’t believe wizard skills are strong enough as they are now to use for magic DPS, especially with the watered-down MATK that’s inevitable by splitting between physical and magical DPS.

But from my experience the main difference between staff + knuckle and knuckle + MD is that knuckle + MD has a more access to different skill trees(like magic warrior and crusher) but less overall physical power(if mixing between physical/magical) due to their physical attack gain coming from AGI as opposed to STR from staves. However, I believe they will be able to gain more MATK than staff + knuckle due to the -15% from using knuckle as sub. Both thrive on long ranged physical or magical DPS and have different options for mixing both. I think for staff + knuckle, the best option would be Chariot + Burst. And for knuckle + MD Goliath + Finale. As for support, staff + knuckle will shine more if you plan to use priest skills. But knuckle + MD will have 100% ailment rates on magic skills. Other than that there isn’t too much difference.

Overall I think both have different ways to go depending on what you’re looking for. ^^ Good luck to ya!

Well, if wizard skills scale poorly, it seems that staff/knux is better for magic/physical...

Well I'll run over some more checks, thanks for the replies :)
