Noob in need of advice

    I'm planning on making a 2h semi tank char (my main char is a lvl 186 tank, so I have access to lvl 4 weapon skills) but I have no idea what to do, so here are my questions:

    1.What skills should I take? (Important/must have skills)

    2.is Str > Vit fine for a semi tank dps 2h?

    3. Low Budget equips? (I'm currently saving my spina for 5th anniv equips)

    4. Any tips for 2h beginners?

    That should be all my questions. In case of equipment, the current ones I have for 2h are:
    4th anniv 2h with outdated stats (with odel xtal)
    Heaven Feather garb (player crafted with atk%,crtdmg,crtdmg%,crtrate.)
    Full Beard
    Dark talisman power (with venena)

    Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advanced.

    2. Str>Vit is also good as you gain more survivability due to high HP pool.

    3. Since it's semi tank
    ✓Weapon:
    Carbuncle (25% Magic Resist with 75 Crit)
    Player stats with crit.

    ✓Armor:
    Heaven Feather Garb (Drop or NPC)
    Oni Garb if you have it (Attack Up 100% Vit stat)
    Player damage stats also works.

    ✓Additional:
    Oni horns (+20 Crit and Attack up 100% Vit stat)
    Bubble Helmet (Physical and Magic Resistance)
    Circle of Order (Physical and Magic Resistance)
    Tiger Cape? ( +25 Crit and 10% Guard)

    ✓Special:
    Dark Talisman Resist
    Dark Fighter Bangle

    These are my suggested gears for a semi tank.

    4. Manage your mana well and avoid dangerous attacks if possible since 2H can't use perfect defense to block it. Try to learn boss patterns also to increase the performance and survivability even further.


    you can also use your current gears but do take not that having no resistance, you'll take more damage as a semi tank.

    Knight Skills:
    Provoke - 1200 aggro on a single target for 200mp at lv10 (cannot be used in a combo). use it on bosses when aggro switches to another player.

    Rage Sword - 200mp attack. medicore damage, but generates additional aggro. if the enemy is targeting you, critical rate becomes 100% and the mp cost of the next skill is halved.

    Binding Strike - 300mp Aoe attack with additional aggro and inflicts Stop. damage is average, the radius is double your sword range. optional, good for multiple targets.

    Assault Attack - 100mp dash attack (6m), inflicts Slow and Knockback (3m).
    damage is average, but good utility and as a combo starter.

    Parry - 30% chance to reduce physical damage by 20%. does not work while you are in guard stance. optional extra defense, comes in handy if you are using Rampage/Berserk.

    Support Skills:
    Recovery - remove 1 ailment effect or prevent ailments 1 time for up to 30 seconds. mp is returned when it removes an ailment (with either effect), so it's basically free.
    optional, but you will have it at least at lv5 to get Sanctuary.

    Sanctuary - places a magic circle that reduces damage from weak attacks for 15 seconds. effective on any attack that hits less than 10% of your maxHP.
    with 400 mp cost it makes a good save skill, but the activation is slow. you may want to speed it up with Trigger Slash.

    yes, but you also need to raise your hit and/or critical rate.

    Shield Skills:
    Guard Strike - deal damage everytime you guard an attack.

    Guard Skills:
    Heavy Armor Mastery - increases guard recharge of heavy armor.

    Advanced Guard - increases guard recharge and guard power of heavy armor.

    Physical Guard - further increases ailment resistance while guarding.
    optional, you probably don't need this if you have Recovery.

    NPC craft or boss drop. look for a sword that increases guard or hp.
    the same goes for armor/add. for the ring, get Shield Plus.

    learn to time your guard. the cost of guard power is halved if you guard on time.
    this bonus does not apply to auto-guard and your guard power will deplete quickly.

    Hard Hit only has a 50% chance to flinch the target. if you plan to cancel a monster's attack, be prepared that you still get hit 50% of the time.

    Astute increases your critical rate by 50 for 10 seconds. but the skill must hit to apply this effect, so raise your accuracy or critical rate.

    Trigger Slash increases your attack mp recovery until the next skill is used, and the next skill will be executed with +50% motion speed.
    this is the max, so it does not stack with the 'swift' tag. also, Astute already has +50% motion speed by default and cannot be made faster.

    War Cry increases the atk of all party members by 15% for 30 seconds. and since it targets all party members, it will also generate aggro on all enemies.

    As for dps skills, I'll still be taking meteor right? Also can u recommend any combos? Thank you so much for the help.

    I still want to be able to deal dmg or atleast be able to solo incase my team mates get downed. And correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't meteor have invinsibility frames during the mid air animation? that means It will be the subsitute for p.def right? since since I'm a semi tank.

    Thanks, but isn't guarding for 2h not that strong conpared to having a shield?

    well shield skills has its own buffs, like an entire skill tree dedicated, its got defence improving skills but ppl choose 2h because of invincibility frames given by meteor, and high dps while maintaining enough guard. But idk, i'm roughly a new member to the 2h discussions, after recently making a 2h char

    That is exactly what I'm after since I've been mainly focusing on tanking as well as katana. I wanted to give 2h a go but my desire for tanking is still there, I want to be able to deal dmg and be a 2nd tank just in case the tank dies or not having a tank.

    You can even use 1h sword and shield and be able to do good damage using knight skills now, since they recently buffed knight skills, blinding strike does more damage than meteor on ohs shield now

    Oh, I haven't heard of that. I just recently came back to toram due to internet problems for months. (Mostly relay on data so ever since the thing that is going on in the world started, I haven't been able to play nor go online. Just ocationally when I have so extra cash.) I'm surprised that 1h semi tank has become stronger now.

    Dps is either Meteor or Buster. Binding can be a main DPS also as the damage scales with VIT and the damage is increased even further because of knight will passive.

    trigger>sanctuary (save)>Finale(smite)
    impact>DPS skill(smite)>finale(smite)
    rage sword>binding strike(smite)>finale(smite)

    so what? you still get 50% damage reduction just by equipping a 2h sword.
    alternatively you can also use light armor to get evasion, so you can do both.
    but guard is easier to use and allows you to survive a fatal hit with 1hp one time.

    Imo, 2h with str-dex can still be tanky with tank gears, use sakura kimono 4 for resistance and 3k flat maxhp, saph roga for 4k, then potum bag for 3k maxhp. Add a little vit if you want and hp boost and you will get a nice 2h with high damage and high hp at 20k ish. You can use amalgam xtal with 9 ampr and 2k maxhp on your ring. In short, flat hp gears are nice. Binding strike isn't as strong as 1hs so meteor breaker would still be your damage+aggro source. With berserk and warcry for party buff aggro. You can just learn aegis and protection to get more resistance. Then if you really want to go all out with damage, just use your usual crit armor. 1h shield semi-tank can dish out nice damage with knight's will so I prefer it over a str vit 2h.

    Oh I see, that would be exactly What i would be looking for. Being able to deal high damage while acting as the 2nd tank just in case. For the potum bag, where can i get it? As for stat allocation I'm thinking of having Full str, atleast 50 vit, and the rest are dex. What do you think about that? Also if binding strike isnt as strong as meteor should I still get it as a semi tank as an extra aggro skill? I haven't reach lvl 205 with any chars yet so I can't really get knight's will yet, is it worth getting if I may ask?

    Potum Backpack? that one was from the million downloads event. it won't be returning anytime soon, so you would have to pay a high price for it (if it's not untradable).
    maybe not. the damage doesn't compare to blade skills, especially with sword techniques. if you have no use for a 6m stop AoE, you won't need it.
    i presume you are leaning more to the offensive rather than the defensive side, so i would leave it out of this build.
    you can also drop rage sword, since you are going for impact.
    putting War Cry and/or Sanctuary in your combos still generates a lot of aggro, you can boost it with some aggro% stats on your gear.

    raising Trigger Slash to lv6 lowers the mp cost to 200.
    raising it further increases the damage and ampr buff. (use it as combo ender for the ampr)

    Potum backpack is tradable, but yeah it's quite pricey. Stuff like saphire roga xtal and amalgam xtal also needs some investment. And sakura kimono 4 is limited item. The aternative would be npc/drop heaven feather garb. Crit armor with sapphire roga xtal would give you considerable damage boost though. So it's between 3k-4k extra maxhp and about 30 cdmg. If you put 50 vit I think you can go with crit armor and still have decent maxhp.

    For knight's will, as binding strike damage isn't that great on 2h, its not worth to get. For aggro, meteor breaker, warcry and berserk should suffice.

    50 vit should give you good amount of maxhp, I can see it reaching 27-30k with hp food buff and vita plus3.

    Also, if you really need some makeshift tank in case of the tank leaving the party, you can pretty much equip a one handed sword and shield for extra aggro/resistance from the shield. In this case getting maxlvl p. Def would be good
