    Short answer : Bow.
I would like to hijack your post and give a thorough analysis for all future posts.
There is little debate on the most Overpowered class in game - but there's some inconsistency on what class should be taken as a beginner.
I will continue this post shortly, detailing a lot of what goes into arriving at the answer that is
What class to take as a beginner in Toram Online?
What's the goal you have in mind when creating your first class?
    • There are multiple different ways to invest your time in Toram Online, and different classes excel in each one of those areas. What's on your mind?
    1. Completing the current chapters of the story mode as quickly as possible until more are released
    2. Reaching the current level cap of 215
    3. To farm and sell items and be rich for buying different items, Pets, decorating your house, etc.
    4. To play in Challenge Dungeons and/or Guild Maze
    5. To have general fun while playing story mode with your friends
Do you want to enjoy the story mode?
    • What I mean by this is that do you want to complete the story mode in the intended normal difficulty and upgrade your armor and weapons piece by piece and progress gradually, or do you want to speed through it in easy mode so that you can also fight the latest story mode bosses and the event bosses? (Event bosses for lower levels also exist)
    • If you want to solo the story mode or do it with a bit of help when needed, then you have limited options. I will discuss those in length later, but One-handed sword + shield, Knuckles, Two handed Sword, and Halberd are pretty fine.
What's the best and most OP class?
    • If you are naked, and you don't have any weapons and/or gear, then Magic Class has the most dangerous skills.
    • With most high tier gear Bow outclasses any other weapon in the game.
What's the worst class to take?
    • As a beginner, stay away from Dual swords, Katana, and any fancy hybrid builds.
    • Knuckles is a close second, it's great at the beginning, but as you level up and start having gears, Knuckle falls short. The same goes for magic. Both have abysmal late-game potential as of right now.
    The Classes themselves:
    • Those are One-handed Sword and Two-handed Sword.
    • One-handed Sword is good as a beginner if you plan to take the tank route. Tanks are in great demand in this game, and you'll reach level 215 in no time if you are a good tank. This unlocks lots of skills so that your second, third,... characters have something strong to start with. This one requires you to bring in a friend/merc in easy story mode since tanks can't deal much damage.
    • You can take a One-handed Sword and Shield and go down the Paladin route. It's like a semi tank semi DPS, and you can make it through the Story mode fine. However, you might not reach the level cap with this. People don't want a jack of all trades in their party. So, you might reach level 150 or so, which unlocks a lot of skills for your characters, but you won't get to level 205, where more exotic skills are unlocked.
    • Two-Handed swords are great weapons, they have a good consistency and you can mostly go through Story mode alone and also you can continue upgrading gear and adding skills and go all the way to level 205. You might need to get a bit expensive gear to do damage comparable to a bow, but THS are good beginner weapons.
    • You can also SOLO bosses in your free time to have fun using THS, unlike Bow, and you are less dependent on tanks compared to bows.
    • It may be a bit difficult to get to level 150 alone, easy with merc, and easier to build on and continue up to 205.
    • The tier 4 skills of this class unlock at level 170 compared to 150 for other classes, and the exp from current story mode only takes you to about 150 or so.
    • This class underperforms without good gears, and can only match good potential if you have really expensive and rare equipment.
    • In short, this class is not a beginner class. It's one of the more complex classes in-game, I would advise to stay away.
    • Katana doesn't share the blade skills with the other three classes mentioned, despite being a sword. It's a highly self-sufficient class, but like Dual Swords, it also requires expensive gears, equipment, and xtals.
    • It also has skills which have unique mechanics and is a difficult class to master. Katanas have the lowest base ATK in weapons, but they can deal considerable damage. It's overwhelming for a newbie to quickly get adjusted to it and feel the class is weak.
    • In short, not a beginner class. Don't take this.
    • A normal mage is an attacker type mage. It unlocks its most powerful skill, Magic: Finale at level 150. Finale deals the highest damage among all classes if each class was not wearing any equipment.
    • However as a standalone class it is very underwhelming. While Finale does do very high damage, you'll be incredibly frustated at how slow the class is. Yes, without gears you can do great damage. But when you reach level 150 and start leveling with other players, most will not be new like you, they might be leveling their other characters and might be better players.
    • More importantly, Finale takes about 8 seconds to perform, and that leaves your character wide open to boss attacks. This causes new players lots of trouble and frustration when they constantly die. People suggest Mage is an easy class because of Finale, but you get Finale at level 150. After that its easier to get to level 170, you don't require Venena.
    • But 170 onwards you need Venena to level up properly, and there the slowness of Finale makes you a dead DPS most of the time. Not to mention people kill the thing before you even finish casting finale.
    to
    • This is my no.1 recommendation for a beginner. While the above mage uses INT and VIT or INT and STR as main stats, a farmer mage uses LUK as a stat and the skill 'Drop Rate UP'. This allows for more drop rates on monster drops.
    • Since it's relatively easy to get to level 150 - <using the easy mode of story mode as I mentioned>, the barrier that was 150 is easy to attain. The difference is now that you can use this mage to farm expensive materials and sell them at the Consignment Board or to general shops to earn spina which you can use to buy better equipment for your next builds.
    • Spina is the greatest limiting factor in this game, and if you have a good farmer mage then you can make any character you want.
    • It's difficult to get to 205 with Mage as your primary character since Mirage evasion and Prayer - one of the most important skills are unlocked at 205.
A word - I'm assuming the primary goal you have is to get to 150, 170, and 205. These levels unlock strong skills. You can choose any of the goals mentioned above.
    • A fairly decent weapon, also good for soloing bosses. You can probably get fine through the story.
    • However, the strongest skill of Halbers requires expensive gear to bring it up to quality.
    • You can make a farmer halberd too - and this is probably what you should do if you already chose halberd as your primary weapon. It is used for farming stronger mobs which your Mage can't kill. It's useful at level 100 too, and if you have a nice feedback loop where you use the spina gained from farming into buying better gears for farming Halberd then you'll be farming the most valuable drops in no time.
    • I would not recommend a non Farming halberd though. It's expensive to get to 205.
    • If you have good equipment, bows are easily the most overpowered class in the entire game. They outclass even Finale. Read that again. If you have good equipment.
    • It will be easiest to get to level 205 using a bow+arrow character. Everyone will love you and take you in their party.
    • However, these good pieces of equipment are expensive. If you already have a farmer and/or blacksmith or some good way of earning spina, then bows are the first choice to max out till 215.
    • Not if you don't have equipment tho. Not optimal for beginners.
    • Pretty much similar to Bows, but weaker.
    • You can, however, make a Farming character (you get the idea- farming = spina = good equipment)
    • Since Bowguns gain more from DEX than Bows do, you can put the rest of the points into LUK and make a farming character. You need Sunrise arrow skill from the Hunter tree, and you're set! You can farm most mobs with ease.
    • It is not as wide-ranged or fast as Mage, nor it can farm the very high-level mobs like Halberds, but somewhere in between.
    • I would not personally recommend this, however, if you go with this, I won't oppose you.
    • There are no skills available for sale in the library for barehand, and you need to find their lost book so that they can teach you those skills. Finding the book is very difficult. Or you can pay other players to purchase it from them - at 1 million spina.
    • This is the BEST class. I 10000000000% recommend this class. You cannot go wrong with barehand.
    • [*]It is a joke, idiot. Never use this class as a beginner, or ever.
      [*]
    • This is the ATK type brawler, an MATK type brawler is just a farmer mage with wings.
    • This class makes reaching 150 feel like a true achievement. You get your most overpowered skill at level 90!
    • This was my beginner class. I enjoyed playing as one.
    • Brawler is the easiest class to understand, but it's impossible to master. Not just very difficult, it's literally impossible. The game's code design is against this class.
    • However, there is a lot - and I mean a lot - to learn from this class. You have Flinch, Stun, Tumble, Fear, Motion speed, Armour Break, etc.
    • You also learn from this class how to identify which skills are useful and what skills are downright useless.
    • This class is like a Butterfly's pupa, you will struggle, but you will emerge as a good Toram player.
    • This class teaches you humility and never to brag about your damage or equipment.
    • This class expands your creativity beyond your horizons to try to keep creating new builds and find out workarounds, unlike other classes that limit your creativity.
    • This class shows you how much of a difference proration can make, and you learn to use it well.
    • If you want to be finely chiseled into a proper Toram player who went through numerous hardships and countless pain to be a veteran, take this class.

    Conclusion:
    • Farmer Mage is good if you want to earn spina to get equipment.
    • 2hs is good if you want to consistently continue to count your character to level 205
    • Halberd is less good, but you can use to farm higher level bosses.
    • Any class is a good beginner class except Katana, Dual Swords, One handed (without shield).
    • Bow, THS and Halberd are good to get to level cap, but you might need equipments.

Just choose which you like as that is more important for having fun on this game.

Since new starters barely have decent equipments with critical and critcal damage stats, I suggest mage.

The pros of mage class is it will still deal decent damage with low budget gears and magic attack won't miss unless evaded, the cons tho is the casting time and you will only get your best damaging skills at level 150.

I also suggest pick the class u like, if ur a newbie. U will just explore & learn about the game first, so u don't really need to be technical & try the best class.

Anyway my suggestions are 1h, staff or bow as a starter.

    No offence to anyone..
But why isnt anyone mentioning physical class and crit issue..(damage, refine n all that aside)
Crit gear (while cheap for us now) isnt exactly cheap for newbie..even few thousands are hard to earn (lack of level, lack of decent farming skills, lack of 1-hit as is demand these days)

While l agree that going along with the class that you like is good option, its not exactly..the best..

Take our toxic community into consideration too,
While we might not mind helping a newbie?
    Not everyone is like that.
95% of players got too high standards for players now.

Well even if u suggest him the optimal class to pick, if the person is new in the game, its not like that he can learn or understand everything in game in a short amount of time. Also, even if he understand every info. he need in game, he cannot afford or farm the right gears, if he just started playing. That's why I suggest to pick the class he like and learn about the game first & enjoy it.

I'm not the best of players and I started off as a mage. I still love my mage. I think it's less complicated and you can pick up items easily to help with cast time.
But I always find it doesn't really matter what class you use. If there's someone who can help you understand which stats and skills are best you're flying.
My advice would be join a guild who can help to guide you and just pick what you like :)

Can't tell as I can't give any bias opinon due to different preferences. I suggest trying out every weapon type there is in the game that you're interested in. You are provided with character slots with a feature to restart MSQ. Or think of something you want to excel on? Speed? Attack Power? Mobility? etc.

if your level hit 150. staff finale mage strongest (because finale has already high multiplier and constant) and u can equip shield for better survivability. while normal physical rely on equip (to get bunch of crit, srd bonus to maximize their potential) and compare to finale dont much get boost from matk in early due to high constant skill

you can start for Full INT , VIT+DEX (str and crt is not viable for starting since it heavily rely on equip) you can use also LUK but this is not mandatory because you need to prior main stats due to low equipment

Note : Mage class mostly rely on tank to avoid getting interrupt in casting (find a party or tank merc)

you can also start building tank after mage (if you want to save spina for your main class).
because tank can easily fit in any type of party
