Newbie question about katana

I'm new to the game and I was wondering which equipments should I look after as a katana user

 

anything with "unsheathe attack" stats on it will greatly affect katana's damage output.

more hp is also good, since Bouncing Blade only restores lost hp if you survive the attack, and Magadachi requires you to be at least at 20% max hp to avoid fatal damage.

 

Hi I'm newbie too. Unfortunately I choose Katana as my first char but it actually doesn't give amount damage to boss or mini boss. I have been told by someone to do Miku event and try to get the Patriot edge with crit stat ( I have been helped too in this event ).

I realize the main DPS for this game is bow and mage. Why katana damage is really low? (high aspd also doesn't help much)

 

Perhaps you find katana damage being low because 1) katana weapon atk is already the lowest among all weapon and its atk growth rate is 1.5 per STR and 2.5 per DEX; 2) low crit, katana needs high crit and no sub weapon so they can gain a huge amount of additional damage from "Two-handed" passive; and 3) proration, since katana users usually spam Tenryu a lot which will ruin proration if you don't put some auto attacks in-between. And you also need unsheathe stats since most of katana's attacks are treated as unsheathe (even auto attacks) with the only exceptions are Magadachi without Tenryu buff, Zantei without Tenryu buff, Gairyou Tensei, and Pommel Strike.

Fyi, about the 2), Two-handed passive has an effect that increase damage when the attack is a critical hit. The way it works is something like this: normally the game use your ATK stat to calculate damage, but when you deal a critical hit and you have that passive, then the game will instead use your ATK plus a percentage of your ATK stat to calculate damage. I.e. you have 1000 ATK and Two-handed lv10 (bonus 50% atk for crit hit), then a non-crit attack will use 1000 ATK to calculate damage, but a crit attack will use 1500 ATK to calculate damage instead.

 

Thanks for your explanation. Using crit rate +100 from Patriot edge makes me always do crit but the crit damage is really low. I don't use any subweapon. All my passive is level 10 except meikyou (lv. 5). I maxed my tenryuu and garyou which only do about around 250k for tenryuu zannou and 350k for garyou ( this is crit damage). I am 194 ands around mid December 2020. I always got kicked from party because they said I am leecher. Now I'm doing mini boss alone with mercenary (from lvl 163 to now). About my equipment, I'm using top hat , ring which drops from boar, and for armor is freebies from someone is very kind with crt rate +10 dex +5 aspd + 50 str +10. I actually frustrated levelling now.

 

Have you refined your katana to +S?

 

it's a difficult thing to do for new plsyer, especially patriot edge is untradeable

 

Then if he wants more damage he can only farm for more spina to buy better equips, and/or make a blacksmith refiner.
